Dorian To Allow The Millenium Falcon to Liftoff?

Dorian being the hurricane that seems to be tracking towards Disney World and Orlando Florida. Would hate to see Disney's new "Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge" attraction get damaged. At least so far projections seem to place Orlando only in a moderate category relative to risk to lives and property.

Interesting that the media may seem to be adopting the European interpretation of how this storm will track, which leaves it scraping the eastern coast of Florida northwards rather than engulfing most of the peninsula.

Would be nice if it misses most of the coastline altogether as a category 3 hurricane. We shall see.

If YouTube footage emerged of Hurricane Dorian actually making the Millennium Falcon from the Galaxy Edge ride fly, I'd probably be both laughing and cheering.

On a more serious note, I do hope people in the Hurricane's path make it out okay.

If they don't shut it down, some visitors to the theme park might get more than they bargained for. Though the truth is, it appears that a number of vacationers have cancelled their trips to Disney World due to the hurricane. Though I can only imagine how many Star Wars fans may still attempt to make the pilgrimage regardless of hell or high water. -Literally.

At least it's encouraging that the present exposure to bodily injury and property damage being tracked only places Orlando in a moderate category. It's always interesting to me to see this sort of storm track evolve, especially when there's a chance of such changes for the better rather than the worst.

Still it could be grim for those who live along Florida's central and northern coastline.

Though I doubt much of any storm could lift Jabba the Hutt off the ground short of a tornado. :p

At least at this point it appears that Tampa Bay, Tallahassee and Miami may be spared getting hit by this hurricane altogether.

We religiously watch the weather channel when a hurricane is approaching as we live so close to the Gulf of Mexico and survived Katrina in 2005. Hurricanes are an ever-present concern for us during the season. Hubby always has gasoline on hand in case the electrical power goes out and we have to fire up the generator.

Dorian is now close to a category 5 and will cause horrific damage wherever it comes ashore, but it has turned north, away from the Gulf of Mexico, and hopefully will just follow the east coast and die while over open waters.

The word "hurricane" is the Maya name for their storm god, Hurricane. Pretty cool that there is still at least one Mayan word in common usage.

Dorian is a dangerous storm and I hope everyone in harm's way has a plan and stays safe.

Yeah, I just switched on the Weather Channel to see that the storm is tracking even more to the east than before. Though as it continues northwards there's no telling how it may react along the coast of the Carolinas.

Now hearing about Hurricane Matthew, which apparently had similar tracking a few years back. Where it seemed to largely avoid Florida, but whacked the Carolinas.

My brother and his girlfriend actually live in Florida and they are coming during the weekend for safety before things start to get too crazy.

Hopefully you're sufficiently inland in SC that avoids where the storm track may wind up in the Carolinas.

This is the last thing we need right now - another disaster. Mother Nature really knows no mercy or boundaries. Neither do Death Stars, but jokes aside...

Wishing the best for everyone in the affected areas, which may include some members of this forum.
