I'm currently in the process of learning Swedish with Duolingo. I have to say I wish I had started learning Swedish sooner, it's probably the easiest one I've learned yet, and it's the one I can translate the fastest.

Chinese.... Eh, getting there.

I'm struggling hard with Japanese. I know enough to start a small conversation that will last probably about 15 minutes or so, then I stump myself. But, with Swedish I've also taken an interest in Swedish language.

Where are you guys at with Duolingo? I'm in Sapphire league right now!

I have been using duolingo for a couple years.

First I did all the Latin lessons.

Then I started the Spanish.
There are more than seven times the number of
Spanish lessons than Latin.

I'd be doing more Latin if they had more, but they don't.
I'm waiting for a relative to copy my Artes Latinae program
so that I can use it on my computer.

As far as the Leagues go in duolingo, I don't care.
I've been in all of them and there's no advantage to
being concerned about the leagues.

Alright, nice to read this. Finally jumped back to Spanish and French. But l love French. Spanish is just a real life skill where l live.Remarkable to do on mobile phone and free for anyone who is interested.

I was very fanatic with Italian for a while, but I got too busy with work so I haven’t practiced in a few months. I’m probably going to get back into it this spring, as I’m planning to visit Italy again in summer.

I used to use Duolingo, but got very frustrated with it, so stopped. I had about 5 languages going at once, probably too many, but I couldn't resist starting new ones. The quality of the trees and their sentences was very inconsistent, and the idea that an update to a tree could wipe out your progress was discouraging to say least. It was great for getting an idea of how languages work, though.

I was trying to learn Spanish via BBC produced Muzzy (in Gondoland) but it was a donated tape (to internet archive)and there wasn't the whole course I found I could learn slightly more but it's expensive to buy the DVD course

I think it`s dificult to learn languages as an adult, it`s so much easier when you are between 6 and 18. I would like to learn French and Spanish but it takes time, I`m busy with other things and my mind isn`t soaking it up like the language sponge it used to be. It takes more effort and time.
I've found Muzzy in Gondoland available in parts on the internet free but again not certain if it will be a whole course but it's easier to learn as it's animated

I enjoyed learning Japanese with Duolingo a lot. I had only two or three lessons left before i quit playing

I like to study languages related to what I'm reading. So if I'm reading a book set in France, or by a French author, then I'll focus on French, but while I'm reading Irish folklore then I'll study Irish, and so on.
I'm currently focusing on Spanish (unrelated to what I'm reading now; I just think it'll come in handy at work), but I've also studied some Japanese (I've studied it at school but wanted the practice), German, French, Norwegian, Welsh, and Irish.

The site has its issues (some sentences require a very specific phrasing, even when others should be allowed, some of the voicing is wrong) but for a free program I think it's a good start.

I love Swedish! I fell in love with Ingmar Bergman’s films when I was a lass, and I’ve loved the Swedish language ever since. Have you watched any Swedish films, @UberScout? They would probably be a great way to learn Swedish. I definitely recommend Bergman. Start with The Seventh Seal.

Me too :) And I speak it;

Kalinychta älskar det svenska språket för att hon har god språksmak.

It means "Kalinychta loves the Swedish language because she has good taste in languages". ;)

Wrong! Kalinychta has good taste in Bergman, haha! Without Bergman I don’t know that I would ever have developed such an appreciation of Swedish or any of the Scandinavian languages.

The Latin one was fun. Lots of drunk parrots :)

I'd nearly forgotten about those. :)

One disappointing aspect of Duolingo's Latin lessons is
that unlike the Spanish lessons, there are no Stories.

One of my favorites is when the kid's father's girlfriend
mistakes the family parrot for the dad's other woman.
Slowing the audible version of the story with the Turtle
Speed option makes the parrot's words "Adios Penelope" so
funny that I have called friends and relatives to let them
listen.

That`s a shame, annoying when movies aren`t available. That movie Border might not be for everyone, it`s special. I thought it was very good, but I`m familiar with some of the local things in the movie since I live here. I suggest watching the trailer and if it doesn`t look interesting you probably won`t like it.

Wow, that trailer had me at about fifteen seconds in. It was nominated for Academy Awards and yet I can’t find it anywhere in the U.S.?! This shows what pompous asses we are here. I’m even looking on eBay. I’m going to find it!

I tried hard with German but lost all the achievement when later Duolingo started to don't ask passwords to enter so to start again from zero so stopped also tried Czech language but I didn't did much because don't keep the achievement when move to the tablet or to the computer so it's frustrating.
