Essential Oils

Has anyone tried essential oils for anxiety and mental clarity? My son struggles in school and wanted to see if this would be a good option?

It's really too bad that there is no macaroni and cheese essential oil, but I've personally had good luck with orange and lavender oils when it comes to anxiety and stress. There has to be a positive association with the scent, whatever it might be.

It does clear the mind and help focus if the scent is familiar, my aspie spouse loves cinnamon and pine scents so I have at one time or another placed them nearby when his job stress was at its peak. It does seem to calm him, and would likely work even better with a child. The cinnamon scent reminds him of cinnamon toast from his childhood, and the pine scent of his camping with his grandfather in pine woods in the northern part of canada.

No, because of smells; but my husband came home one time and put a cigerette shape box in front of me and said that perhaps this will help your anxiety a bit. It is all homeopathic and works wonders for me. Starts working within seconds and long lasting, without side effects.

If your son is 6 and over, then he can take it.

I will give you a link to look for yourself, if you want?

Thank you, that's an interesting way of thinking of it! I'm going to try that as well! He loves being in nature! :] Great advice!

Yes, thank you! :]

Pleasant scents. Reminds me of when I once had a job interview at Jelly Belly's factory in California.

You get close enough downwind to the factory and the smell is wonderful. :) Put me in a really good mood....although I wasn't hired. Second only to one person of 41 applicants.

I'm going to have to start taking note of the scents he likes for sure. :]

I like to use peppermint oil (just take the cap off and inhale it) while preparing for and when in stressful situations when I can.

kestrel

I got grapefruit oil several years ago because
it was supposed to help keep mosquitoes off of
the goats' udders.

I can't say that it did.

I use peppermint oil in water, to drink, just a mouthful
at a time, when I am away from home. Or when I wake
up in the middle of the night.

Oops, I honestly thought this was a thread about automotive lubricants like "synthetic versus conventional," etc. I will now take my old male chauvinist self to another thread, sorry.

There's an oil that can make me all warm and fuzzy. ;)

Synthetic. Doesn't burn, doesn't break down. No contest. Been using it for years. Worth the extra cost.

That said, back to the nice smelling organics....lol. :p
