Feeling With Sues

You KNOW you have a problem when you actually connect with Mary Sues.

Like: Say someone says Katniss Everdeen is a model to young women looking to be strong. Me, I see a raging [deleted] who's rude to a guy who cares about her. I don't CARE about her mommy issues or responsibility.
Someone also says Sookie Stackhouse is a horrible, self-absorbed woman. I saw a kinda dorky conservative Southern Belle. And her problems with her in-law (Crystal Norris) reminded me of Mom's relationship with hers.

You do realise that you could start a thread with more than one topic? Instead of starting multiple threads within the same section of the forum repeatedly?

*shrugs* Lazy.

That makes literally no sense. You already started a thread just before this one...and instead of using that one to discuss both 'topics', you started two separate threads. That's not lazy, that's a waste of time.

My brain's just full of thoughts. If I wanna get something out, I do it.

And I'm not saying you shouldn't, just that I don't understand why you wouldn't put them in one thread when they're very closely related topics.

In my experience, people who say they're crazy rarely are. They'd just like people to believe it because they're actually really average. My sister has a friend who would have people believe she's so unique and zany and nuts. She's the most banal person I've ever met.

If you find work in the advertising industry that's a trait that will come in quite handy. As it may in other occupational pur$uits where improvised creativity in very short time spans are a must.

Think of it as a talent- not a liability. But learn to apply it in more positive ways.

Did you just say banal?! I think you might have meant anal! *Sirens go off*

I'm guessing this is some kind of sarcasm or attempt at humor. Or are you disparaging the person you quoted? Just trying to understand. Normally I'd just quietly let it slip.

Just not sure what motivated it beyond a single consonant. Otherwise I'd be tempted to paste the definition of the word "banal". Especially given the context of the post you quoted.

But in my case I'm left hopelessly guessing, given my brand of autism.

Every once in a while I see the opportunity for others to see the mindset of someone on the spectrum of autism. Even if at my own expense. Particularly NTs, who can dissect this moment to get a better understanding of our abilities- and limitations.

It's still haunting to me to have gone through most of my life not questioning my own traits and behaviors. So glad to get a better idea of such things, although in the case of sarcasm I don't have any real resolve for socially navigating such situations other than to passively ignore them when they happen.

Sorry to momentarily hijack this thread....but I couldn't resist given the nature of this forum.

It was an attempt of humor. Part of my sense of humor is pretending to be ridiculously immature. Another example of something I find funny is calling my friend, Max, "Maxipoo" permanenetly, and laughing when he responds to me by messaging me in all capital letters (mock anger). It is a dangerous sense of humor, as people might think I'm making fun of them. And I guess I am kind of.

I think that lots of people don't realize I'm joking when I write things like this, so it's not necessarily autism that is making you not understand.

Your post made me laugh too because you so nonchalantly went from questioning my post to introspection about your life.

Yeah, humor is a weird thing for us. :p

It can go in different directions whether intentionally or not. It's just frustrating for me at times when I really don't know what the intent may be. Thanks for replying. ;)

Thank you for explaining, and for sending me a message to assure me that you weren't making fun of me. I really appreciate that, as if I had just read you reply, I would have thought you were mocking me. I have a hard time with sarcasm in written form, and sometimes when used in person too.

She did a podcast with Richard herring which was quite good.
Loved that some of her tics were 'biscuit' and 'salad dressing'
More importantly I loved her views on the challenges of being a stand-up and the insights it gave her, which she put across very intelligently.
