Firefox Browser Update

Has anyone else's Firefox been updated and almost entirely changed? For example: The browser now has a feature called "Recommended By Pocket."

Right click to remove it on the address bar. Every time it updates they put the pocket back in.

To get rid of the one on the search page, use the small sun or cog on the upper right (right click) to rid yourself of the stuff you don't want.

I found it to be changed only in minor ways...but then I knew beforehand that if you were using any number of custom add-ons you risked losing them with the latest versions of Firefox. Personally the "save to pocket" feature doesn't particularly interest me one way or another. Though I liked that they went back to the rectangular tabs. The themes I retained all still work fine though.

It does seem to function a bit faster than before though. Nothing bad about that.

You can also mess about with the toolbar/buttons if you click on the Open Menu button in the top right corner (the 3 bars) and select 'Customize' half way down. Then drag and drop buttons wherever you want them. I had to get the link to my Bookmarks/Folders back that way.

What kind of articles does "Recommended By Pocket" show you? Anything that would trigger my anxiety (Like world news about war/politics/etc,.)?

If you don't want the app, you can remove it.

"When you open a new tab in Firefox, you’ll now see three recommended stories from Pocket."
Introducing Pocket Recommendations in the New Firefox Quantum « Pocket Blog

The 'recommended' things, for me, today, at the moment, are these 3 articles:
one on adoption, another about earthquakes, and the third is
how to avoid getting a cold.
What I see in my pocket highlights is stuff I have already viewed.

TLDR:
Yes, there is a possibility that a recommended story might freak you out.
But there is no obligation to click it and read it, so if you don't care for it,
don't choose it.

I wish they'd make it clear exactly what changes they have made when they release a new version. I had no choice about upgrading and then some of my addons no longer worked.

Looks different too, some functions in other places, new symbols... Honestly, hard to say if it's annoying or unsettling.

Yeah, page reload is now on the left, next to the 'go back one page.' It's also opted all on it's own, to save history, (so it can record my interests/web habits). Had to return and reconfigure that to 'never remember history'.

It's easy to rearrange the icons on the toolbar. (1) Open the Firefox menu (3 horizontal lines icon on far right); (2) Select "Customize"; (3) Drag the icons you want to move; (4) Click "Done" in the lower right.

I wasn't interested in Pocket, since I have a text file on my desktop where I save URLs for the same purpose. If you right click on the Pocket icon, there's an option on the popup menu to remove the icon from the toolbar.
