hello,

first post here. Hello, mods. :)

I'm here to learn more about asperger's and asd's in general, as I believe that I'm most likely an aspie myself. I'm curious about others' experiences, self-perception, plus any insights they may have about asd's in general. For one because I'm a why-asker, and two, for a personal point of reference. Three, because asd folks have a novel way of thinking, imo, which I'm interested in.

I'm a borderline/mild case (at least in terms of social difficulty - to my knowledge, anyway), and given that diagnosis wasn't as common when I was a kid, I didn't officially receive one. I later received what I believe to be a misdiagnosis of adhd.

I'm a mild/shy/introverted person, not terribly socially adept, left-handed, high IQ, and an androgyne, among other things. I mention these traits in particular because I think that they're all relevant / evidence of / a result of my aspie nature. My quest began as a search for a sexual and gender identity, but the result led me here; and now I make sense to myself, for the first time, maybe ever.

So yeah, that's a bit of me and why I joined this forum. Thanks,
-b

Hi There! You've come to the right place. Many people come here to learn about Asperger's because they think that they have it. some of us are way out there on the spectrum in some areas, but virtually NT in others. There really is a broad variety here. I hope you post often & enjoy your time here.

Hi, I'm also new. I was diagnosed with asperger's towards the end of high school and am now in my twenties trying to find my place in life while struggling with extreme introversion. It occurred to me to seek out a place like this because I made a short film about being an aspie which I'll post in the appropriate section. I'd like it to be seen by people that might relate.

HI!!!! Welcome to AC. This is great place to get to know people and share experiences. There are a lot of people here that started off with believing they have ASD of some kind and then went on to get diagnosed. So I am glad that you are here. Welcome.

Welcome James and la! I imagine a few of us (myself, at least) were initially diagnosed with ADHD. James, I look forward to watching said film. :)

This is a free thought zone, judgements and strong criticism is more gracious and muted. You're perfect, we need you, this would be less of a forum without you. Be real.

Welcome aboard, I would like to extend to you ..... This, Laurel.... and Hardy, handshake. We hope you like it here and post often.
Edit; what! No funnies or is my attempt at humor too dated?

Welcome la.

I too have found contentment after receiving my diagnosis; I became aware of the anti-social aspects of my behavior and have set about trying to minimize those flaws. It is far from 100% successful, but any improvement is a gain.
