First time using a Transportation service

I decided to take a the transportation service known as lyft you know kind of like Uber that takes you places but at better prices less than $10. I don’t know what everyone else has in their area.

Anyway because of me not have a car on the college campus I live, I really wanted to get out instead of been stuck on a separate island being sort of depressed and where there’s literally nothing to do in the weekends.

I was kind of nervous at first cause I never rode with someone who I have no idea who they are and not knowing what the person may do but I went for it anyway. The guy who I rode with was cool to talk to and was his first week doing transport services.

I wanted to get away from campus and also from final exams coming up next week and I can say it was worth it. I felt my stress and anxiety feeling relieved from being stuck on that isolated island since I could not go anywhere.

I went and had some actual real food than what they serve at the school cafeteria which was pleasant and just spent a few hour along the beach. When it was time for me to head back around 5:30pm I did the same thing called someone up and it was a different guy who was cool to talk to as well; he had a thick British accent which I find to be awesome.

Both guys asked me what I am going to school for and I told them I m going for a bachelors in marine biology where I am working on being a shark conservationist and some research I’m doing towards it. They thought it was the most incredible thing to hear and told me good luck on my goals and that I’m going to do great things in the world.

It was nice to have conversations like this which made me more at ease and knowing I shouldn’t be afraid of doing something like this nor care if anyone criticized me because I don’t have a car where I am at. Besides I do have to go to the doctor on Monday so I can use that instead of a friend taking me which I know some of them get annoyed by that.

It’s also good experience for me whenever I do live on my own which will be soon than expected.

Sounds good, Dillon. Great to be able to get out and away from things...even for just a little bit.

I'm glad you had such a good experience with Lyft. I've been meaning to try it myself but I own a car. Where I live, not having a car can be almost impossible because public transportation does not run 24/7. The hours and location where I work pretty much require car ownership. I wish I could live without a car.

When I was stationed at a northern Illinois naval (training) base, I bought a mountain bike to save on taxi fare (until winter came). That was 36 years ago and it is still in my garage.

I now deliver papers on trike (including winter) in northern Wisconsin.

I appreciate Uber and Lyft a huge deal. No matter how much bad press they're getting as corporations, they've really made my daily life in a part of the world where not being able to drive is a huge life penalty, significantly more bearable and no doubt that of many others.
