First world problems

So... I was listening to this song below just now and it got me thinking

First world problems... anything hilarious or even serious you can come up with?

It got me thinking about the absurdity of people going to a club/bar as a group. Because;

- You apparently have the luxury of paying more for drinks
- You are not satisfied with the place you are now (eg. @ home)
- Having friends by itself, you apparently don't consider a luxury and you want to be around MORE people

That process of thought by itself might be a first world problem

Then comes the complaints of people bothered by the music, by the people around, prices and such... leave already. It's weird in the way that you actually expect you be entertained just by showing up. And preferably get a personal treatment.

Another one;

And this is something I talked about with a friend (or my archenemy, some people know who I'm talking about... and it's not Wil Wheaton; no I don't apologize for a stupid joke ;) ) anyhow, that friend of mine is a game designer and he put out a statement on facebook the other day which actually made perfect sense. It was along the lines of (paraphrased)

Following current youth is ******** as a game designer because we actually have to reward those people for stuff they didn't even accomplish.

As someone who plays some games (as well as him being my childhood friend; and thus about the same age) I can see where he's coming from. It actually is a psychological first world problem where reward is not a reward but a motivation to, in the end get a bigger reward which is totally out of proportion. Let's put it differently (in non-games analogies); we're expected to get a drink we activate ourself in order to accomplish something which results in the reward of food (or more drinks). Thus turning a rewardsystem into the eye of a storm actually. Not to mention the "intensity" of the reward.

But yeah... that's some random thoughts, perhaps people would like to chip in on so called "first world problems".

After a convo with my girlfriend about clothing we kinda thought about this (and she took the effort to caption the image);

First World Problems - clothing choice might get you killed

Reason is, she was like "cops told me I had to change my laces in my combat boots, cause apparently red ones are racist". Now, that might be true... but apparently along those lines, white laces, dr. Martens boots in general as well as long coats are all racist. Or associated with racist groups. Along those same lines, there's enough stuff that'll put you in a subculture, no matter how "bland" the piece of clothing is... and being part of a group, if you want or not, might get you into trouble with other people.

Yes, I can see how gangs in general have their identification... but I really wonder what kind of society we're in where we apply such rules upon clothing... and where some groups of people enforce them violently.

First world problem... a good chunk of the poorest people are too fat, a good chunk of the richest are too thin.

Interesting observation, though that might have to do with the fact that healthy food and lifestyle apparently is more costly than junkfood and "poor" people perhaps don't have the luxury to worry about not eating for today, since... who knows what's up tomorrow.

Exactly the problem. Me and my folks have this same conversation every so often. It's one of the reasons why I grow a vegatable garden. The less processed the food is, the more healthy the food is, the more it costs. It's also worth mentioning that it's very common for people to grow up "spoiled" by the tastes of food as well. For example, most kids won't eat fresh vegetables unless they are smothered in cheese sauce, vegetable dip, ect. It's common for some to think they are eating a "healthy" salad, but add a handlful of grated chedder cheese, bacon bits, and then smother it in a high calorie dressing.

A first world problem my fiance and I had today: we were given a free case of beer and we are having the hardest time drinking it because it's horrible. If we didn't have expensive (or just... not cheap) taste this wouldn't be an issue. :laugh:

This reminds me of a major problem that many here in the states still don't even know or care about. It's ashame that GMO/biotech related food is so rampant in the US today. It's way out of control and it's basically too late to prevent or even turn around as it does seem.

I'm avoiding the urge to go on a long, rambling, "soapbox" rant, but I have very strong opinions on this subject as well, and again, another reason why I grow a vegetable garden. ;)

My first world problem today is that I had a meltdown because of something someone said on Facebook. Facebook is a luxury, if you think about it. :laugh:

My recent FWP: I've been sleeping on my face again and because of my nasal piercing my nose is too sore to use my touch screen phone with it, so I've to take my glove off and it's still too cold outside :<

Broken game console... Recently, (as stated in another post) my ps3 got the dreaded YLOD. I don't want to get it fixed by Sony because they cannot be trusted, charge more, and they will sabotage it, hindering it's natural backwards compatible ability to play my ps2 games on it as well. That would be so annoying, so I have to eventually go through alternate means to get it fixed so my ps3 can retain it's natural backwards compatibility, and be able to play all games as opposed to just being able to play ps3 games on a ps3 console.

Here's a giant first world problem after being showered in the rain.

The problem; It rains, so I must shelter.

Granted, having soaking wet clothes sucks. But observing today, I went to a different city (about 40 minutes by train) and then all hell broke loose. It started raining in cataclysmic proportions. Some lightning flashes and whatnot. It was late night shopping night, so it was relatively busy in the streets of the center. I was the only person to actually walk through the rain to get to my goal. Tens... oh wait... hundreds of people just stood in the doorway of stores waiting for the rain to stop. Newsflash: Rain does not kill you!

To make it more interesting; I actually had to cross half the city to get to a store and end up hanging out there watching some people play tabletop games with toy soldiers as soaked as if I just jumped in the river and swam across.

Perhaps it's that I, despite not having a busy life, feel that I should not waste my time on trivial things like "wet clothes". I sometimes wonder how much people spend in their lifetime sheltering for rain.

The most hilarious thing of this all; 2 days ago it was 90F (about 32C) here. Everyone complained about how warm and unbearable it is. Now it rains and everyone is bickering how bad the weather is.

That in fact is a first world problem. /Rant

Having to spend an hour at work tearing cover sheets off stapled faxes instead of doing real work.

One of my favorite movies just came on tv, and I couldn't watch it, because I strongly dislike Finnish faulty subtitles. And now I feel stupid for not watching it while I had a chance ;____;
