Flu Vaccination

I’m getting my flu shot on Thursday on my lunch break at the grocery store I work at. What should I expect?

I got my flu shot at work last month. We filled out the application, and they called us in and gave us our shots. It hurt like any other kind of shot.

I got my latest one just last week.

When you go to get it done, it goes into the upper part of either arm. A small pinch, nothing more.

After effects include a slightly sore arm but nothing else.

Try not to worry, you should barely notice it at all.

Had mine last week. I blinked and it was over. There was a tiny amount of soreness afterwards. If a wimp like me can do it, anyone can.

So do all Americans get a flu shot and they often get it at work? I'm just a little surprised, I have never gotten a flu shot in my life. Most people don't get that here I think. And it just sounds unusual that people get it at work. I would have to go to a doctor to get that.

It depends on your job. When I worked with children, they offered it on site by a nurse that would come for an afternoon.

Now, I don't have that option, but I can get it for free through my doctor or almost any pharmacy.

I need a flu and covid shot again. I haven’t had time to schedule one because I’m so booked with appointments this month. I’ll maybe do it next month.

Good luck. I can’t get the COVID vaccine because one of my relatives doesn’t believe in it, and because the pandemic is just about over. You do what is best for you, do it to protect your sick loved ones/those around you.

Last week at my doctor’s I tried getting the new Covid shot but my doctor said the clinic did not have it yet and that there was confusion because insurance was not yet paying for them. She thought it would be cleared up soon. I got my flu shot while I was there. I will get the Covid vaccine any time they offer it. I had a friend who died from Covid and another who was miserable and sick. I want the help if I can get it.

My mom’s against me getting the vaccine. I would if she wasn’t against it. You definitely should to protect your loved ones.

I’m ultimately getting the flu vaccine to protect myself and my coworkers. Just this week a small flu outbreak has been going around. The opening bagger wasn’t available due to being sick so I had to stay until 3pm.

The pharmacist I called told me I should have no side effects other than tiredness/a sore arm/shoulder

I hope it works out well for you. People are so different. Years ago I got the two-part shingles vaccination. For 24 hours each time it was the sickest I have ever been in my life. It was awful but over quickly and now I have protection so that I may not get shingles or if I do it will be much less severe.

I mention it because my doctor said other people have taken the same vaccine and had no bad reaction. I thought bodies were all the same, it seems to me they should be but we can react so differently.

I had an interesting vaccine experience years ago, I was part of a group that was given a new and exciting meningitis vaccine. A few months later I got contagious meningitis. :fearscream: Worst vaccine ever, I should have sued someone.

I couldn’t get the flu vaccine as a young kid because I was allergic to eggs and one of the ingredients in the flu vaccine is eggs. I once got the flu from a flu vaccine (if I recall) but that was only because I was a young kid/may have been in contact with others that are sick
