I just ate a delightful honey crisp apple for my dessert after dinner.

I have a banana after every cardio workout I do.

And I am a huge fan of oranges.

This thread is for all who appreciate fresh fruit. Ban canned fruit.

Canned Fruit? Sounds about as useful as stilts for horses.

Green apples that have a slightly sour taste, just delish. And grapefruit is so great. l had a neighbor that was on a egg and grapefruit diet, that's all you could eat for several days.

I love fresh fruit. I also love it canned or even dried though too. Also fruit juice.

Eating a fresh, perfectly ripe, juicy peach with the juice dribbling down your chin is heaven to me. Some canned fruit is okay with me, such as canned pineapple slices which I like to grill. Canned fruit fillings for pies like pumpkin, apple or cherry filling are good, too.

Canned fruit ain't going to match fresh, like pretty much any canned or other long life product.
But, in cases where a good supply of fresh fruit all year round is not possible, it can be a life saver!
And it ain't so bad unless you try to compare with the fresh article.
So don't ban it!
Anyway, give it ten years or so when the supply chain isn't quite what it is now, and you may even be grateful it still is an option?

Oh gawd! I did one of those when I was a tubby teen. Two weeks of boiled eggs and grapefruit (which I dislike intensely) did result in a stone lost by the end, but much of it was water loss due to no salt, and most people tend to binge after such an extreme diet and put it back on again anyway.
One thing though, by the end of it I was belching sulphur dioxide, and have disliked eggs ever since. I may try an omelette and won't be able to consider anything eggy for another year or so! 🤢

I'm all for fresh fruit. Though the best way to guarantee freshness, is to go it farmer's markets or to orchards that sell to the general public.

You have to be mindful in stores, though.

I am 100% with you consurning canned fruit, and anything of the sort. Anything that can easily be messed with and manipulated.

I got a half bushel of Honey Crisp apples last week.
Seconds.

So they were $17.95 instead of twice that.

So far I have: Yellow Delicious, MacIntosh, Mutsu (2 bags), Ida Red, Jonagold, Honey Crisp.

Another half bushel would bring total to 4 bushels, which is the amount
I bought last year, and that worked out ok.

Yes fruit is good. I especially like cloudberries, they have a special taste and are very healthy. Crammed full of vitamin C and antioxidants. Had some cloudberry cream recently, that's berries and whipped cream. 😋 A local delicacy.

Cloud berris and lingon berries. Such lovely exotic treats.

Perfectly ripe southern peaches, with the juice dripping down are also splendid. Florida does not grow peaches well.

Mangos. Perfectly ripe locally grown mangos are superb. I have persimmons coming along and just finished home grown bananas which taste nothing like store bought.

Local blueberries. Local (well, just up the road) strawberries.

Jaboticabas, guavas, dragonfruit, and many others.
