Hi everyone,
I am from CT and as far as I know I am not on the spectrum.
I really joined this forum because I have a friend who I believe has aspergers. He is in his 60's, is a retired engineer, and "set in his ways." He's not particularly interested in investigating this for himself but told me he would read something if i pointed him to it.

He loves ritual, hates change, and most irritating for me, does not seem to "get" physical cues from others. For example, every time we go anywhere I have to tell him to get out of the way so i can get to the door or wherever we're going and he is standing, facing me, in the way.

Thanks in advance for your friendship and your willingness to be part of a forum like this.
All the best,
Laurie

Hi Vanilla,
This is a good start. Thank you, I will check out those books and resources.
All the best,
Laurie

Hi Laurie and welcome,
This is a great place to learn about your friend and admirable, on your part. The whole door blocking routine sounds like me. My wife told me she was going to have hinges attached to me and a door knob on my ass, cos im in the way so much. I can actually move, when I see someone coming ang strategically block them, at every angle. Its a gift.
And you can tell your friend, whose he kidding. Us old engineers never retire, we just keep reinventing the wheel, until they bury us.
Cheers
Turk
