Fruits and Vegetables?

Andrew_Collins

What is Bramble?
Im a Vegetarian so I love fruits and Vegetables. My fave fruit is

3rd Pomegranate, it has to be dark red, i like it in salads and in porridge or on its own as a snack ( i have stains evrywhere from these) and I've still not figured out how to peel them quickly.

2nd Blueberries. They are so good for you and great dried or in a smoothie with raspberries. Im Lucky here in Sweden they grow everywhere so you can stockpile them.

1st place Cherries, ( especially morello cherries) who don't love a nice cherry :) I love evrything cherry flavored

Those are all good. I tried a vegetarian diet for several months, but I wound up getting sick (and I don't know why when I was eating a huge variety of foods).

My favorite fruits are mango, banana, and honeydew, and my favorite vegetables are green onion, spinach, and carrots.

I was vegetarian for many years and vegan for a couple of those. Of course, such a diet necessitates things OTHER than just vegetables, but I must say, Brussels sprouts have always been a favorite of mine. I've figured out that if you buy them right off the stalk, douse them in olive oil and cover them in minced garlic and sea salt, and roast them, the results are, oh so divine!

...Yes, I was always kind of a weird kid. I even liked them back when my parents were just steaming them.

YOu and the middle of my brothers need to get together and cook brussel sprouts sometime. That is very similar to how he cooks them.

There are some vitamins and minerals that are mainly found in animal products. Some of them are also absorbed more easily when in meat than when in other foods. Vitamin B12 is only in animal products. On days when I don't eat meat, I can get it from milk.
It should also be noted that if someone tries to get a lot of vitamins/minerals through pills and supplements, they can end up with to much-which is also harmful.

I love green onions too and make the fermented cabbage Kimchi with it, also nice in an omelet with chilli in it. Ive Mango is nice frozen. Also blended with watermelon and Lime juice.

Im not a true vegetarian really as I eat seafood and fish, but I've worked on farms, I'm not against eating meat but i believe that the animal should have had a free life ,most people don't know whats involved in the meat industry and modern farming methods, its hellish.

When i was camping a few years back in Norway I met a couple there who were Vegans, and the girl was telling me how cruel the fish industry is, the guy also told me he believed the fear energy from the animal got into you if you eat it, it got me thinking. Also if you've ever eaten steak and seen a purple streak through the meat, that is an adrenaline shock from where the animal died. Animals are treated disgustingly, i wish i could do more.

I know being a vegan is probably more work i know animal product is in a lot of things including toothpaste and some soaps even, reeducation and money, But if its beneficial to health then its worth it. I thought i may be gluten intolarent last year so i tried to cut that out and THAT was so hard its in almost evrything so i gave up on it. Ive been looking at the raw food diet on You Tube and impressed by that but I'm not 100% but i have have increased my Vegetables a lot , I've always enjoyed them.

I wasn't sure about that so researched it B 12 is in the yeast product Marmite which I eat on toast with boiled egg, but your right its mostly found in meat.

Yeah, there were a lot of things I had to look over and cover elsewhere. I was having the occasional breakfast of hardboiled eggs along with milk, though, so I was pretty much out of options besides the supplements. I don't know what else I could have done, but I might discuss the diet with a professional nutritionist or something in the future and try again...

B12 can easily be supplemented with a B-complex (this is inadvisable if you take statin drugs, but otherwise you only have to worry about minor health effects like flushed skin or temporary shakiness with overdose) and it is synthesized by bacteria. Technically, it is in meat and other animal products because of the intestinal flora that produce it. We can't absorb the B12s that our gut flora produce because of the anatomy of our digestive systems (it is best absorbed sublingually or in the duodenum, but it is synthesized in the large intestine).
Certain vegan products like nutritional yeast and soymilk are fortified with in vitro synthesized B12. :)
I love red cabbage, celery, onions, spinach, pickles, red apples, and berries. I'm also a big fan of figs and hummus. I'll dip raw onion slices in hummus, salsa, mustard, etc as though chips.

I've often taken a B-12 supplement. It was in liquid form, and I took one drop a day instead of the 25 drops the bottle said to take, because the 25 drops gave hundreds of times more than one's Daily Recommended Intake.

I LOVE fruit and vegetables.

Spinach
Kale
Avocado
Bananas
mangoes
Strawberries
tomotoes
potatoes
leek
rocket
Raspberries
Blueberries

Are my faves!! :)

Yeah there is really no sense in taking 10000000% RDI. You will just excrete most of it. You might be wise to try taking one drop more than once a day though...

Can you believe that there were vegetable and fruits I disliked when I was younger but now can't get enough of ? :P

Veggies I hated as a kid:

Broccoli
Spinach
Cauliflower

Fruits I hated as a kid:

Peaches
Cranberries
Strawberries
That really nasty and tasting fruit that was only good with sugar added to it.

I love all of these now that I'm older lol

I like most fruit and vegetables, except eggplant, kiwi, and okra. I mostly love berries like strawberries and blueberries the most.

I'm kinda curious about this, because anything that made you sick is potentially applicable to other people, even those who are not vegetarians.

Sick how? After how long on the diet? Were you sick every day, all the time, or occasionally?

It could be simply you eating or drinking something that inhibits the uptake of something you eventually ran low on.

Or maybe you were just getting too little of a certain protein?

---------------

As for fruits and vegetables: I don't eat much fruit because my stomach gets sick from it. I do enjoy a variety of vegetables, though.

I eat a lot of tomatoes and tomato paste.
Fried squash and potatoes is nice too.
And rice cooked with peas, broccoli and carrots
Green peas are actually awesome with most things because sweet.

Hi Sneaky Potato!...Too much fruit/veg can sometimes cause excessive gas, stomach cramps caused by the excessive gas and diarrhea. :)
