'They're scum': Furious sister posts pictures of her autistic brother's injuries after he was beaten up in the street for just £5

  • A 'vulnerable' 18-year-old who is autistic was brutally attacked by a gang
  • He was walking in Barnstaple, Devon, when he was jumped on Friday night
  • His sister has now posted a heartfelt appeal on her Facebook page

A furious sister has posted photographs of her 18-year-old autistic brother's horrific injuries after he was brutally attacked by a gang - who stole £5 from him.

Steph Tomlin said that a 'group of scum' jumped her brother James from behind before they mugged and injured him on Saturday night.

Her brother was left with cuts and bruises to his face following the incident in Barnstaple, Devon, and the group also ran off with his bag.

Police are now appealing for witnesses and are urging to public to contact them if they have any information.

Ms Tomlin wrote on her Facebook page: 'So tonight a group of scum decided they would jump my brother from behind. They mugged and injured him. This is horrible!

'He's a vulnerable lad with autism, seen as an easy victim! There's absolutely no justice in this world! These p***** will most likely get away with this.

'He's shaken up but surprisingly doing good (which is all that matters)!

'I hope you enjoy the £5 you p*****! One of these days you'll get what's coming to you. People like that never learn!

'Please be careful when going out! You just never know!'

DC John Crewe, who is investigating, today appealed for witnesses to come forward.

He told MailOnline: 'On Friday night, shortly after 6pm, a robbery occurred in the area of Heppenstall Road and Long Meadow Drive in Barnstaple whereby an 18-year-old male was forced to the ground and had his bag stolen.

'Anybody who may have seen this incident or has any information in relation to it, contact DC Crewe CID at Barnstaple Police Station on 01271335214.

'Or alternatively, contact crimestoppers if they want to remain anonymous.'
