Good Bands for Us

So, growing up undiagnosed, I had no true sense of self, so I didn't develop a serious interest in music until much much later. I always listened to whatever all the popular kids were listening to. You know, the generic, mainstream, brainwashy pop music (although I'll always love my Backstreet Boys and TLC :))

But in the past year or so, I have discovered sooo many new and amazing bands. Not just the music is amazing, but the lyrics have helped me so much. And alot of these bands have some songs that are very "asperger-y", if you will. They just seem to understand me in my life. And some songs I feel like were written just for me. There is a song for every emotion and experience I have ever had! So please, for your sanity, you HAVE to check all of these guys out. You wont be sorry!! :)

1. SICK PUPPIES - Riptide, There's no Going Back, Connect, Telling Lies, Healing Now, World, Howards Tale, Issues, Maybe, Odd One
2. RELIENT K- Who I am Hates who I've Been, Be my Escape
3. RISE AGAINST (actually stands for rise against animal abuse, so I love them even more)- Hero of War, Re-education (Through Labor), Help is on the Way, Make it Stop, State of the Union, Swing Life Away (My current favorite song!),
4. SIMPLE PLAN (I think someone is this band may have Aspergers. Just a hunch)- Welcome to my Life, I'm Just a Kid, Perfect, Untitled, Shut Up, Me Against the World, This Song Saved My Life, Jump, Last One Standing
5. PIERCE THE VEIL- Bulls in the Bronx, Hold on til May, ah who am I kidding, pretty much every song by them is awesome.
6. SLEEPING WITH SIRENS- If You Cant Hang, Roger Rabbit, Iris (original song by the goo goo dolls)
7. HALESTORM- Freak Like Me, Beautiful with You, Here's to Us, You Call me a ***** like it's a Bad Thing

And some more bands that have less to do with Aspergers but I still love: BILLY TALENT, OF MONTREAL, IN THIS MOMENT, BLACK VEIL BRIDES, THE XX, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, DEATHCAB FOR CUTIE

Sorry for the incredibly long post, I just have a lot to say o_O
Do you guys know any more epic bands that you can really relate to? I'd love to check them out!

There's plenty of stuff I like I'm not sure if it's something "for aspies" or even aspie friendly, heh.

I've been told quite a few times that a lot of stuff I listen to tends to be quite intense, even for non-aspie standards. But then again, I remember buying tapes (yes, tapes.. and now I feel old, lol) of heavy metal bands before I hit my teens and it all went up a few notches from there. Musical preferences and to some extent identity were on set at an early age already. Over time I expanded my musical horizons more and not sticking in that rock and metal corner (and expanding surely got a lot easier with itunes and youtube, as opposed to years ago when people just told you check that artist out and you'd end up ordering a cd with ridiculous import costs because no store in the country had it available).
