Good site for language learning

I've found Duolingo.com which is a good site for learning languages, both vocabulary and grammar.

If you want you can create a profile to track your language progress. :)

I'm using it to learn Spanish

Duolingo is excellent, though the quality of the courses and the features available do vary. I have noticed with some of the more recently added courses it doesn't tell you what percent fluent you are, and they either have voice exercises that only work with the Chrome browser (and don't work particularly well), and some courses have no voice exercises at all.

Another good one is memrise, although I have found it best when you have already completed the Duolingo tree, and just need to expand your vocabulary. Memrise is essentially a flashcard app, where users can contribute their own courses and the app then tests you on them in a fun way. I am learning Danish and am currently doing a course on there titled something like 'the 500 most common Danish verbs'. While it only gives their root form and not any other form, it is still extremely useful. Next I will be doing a course on 5000 Danish words, which includes nouns and adjectives as well as some verbs. Memrise is free but you can subscribe for more features, I personally don't as I don't even need all the free features. I mostly use 'learn new words' and 'speed recognition'.

I'm active every day on Duolingo and memrise and if you want to add me you shoulddddd send me a PM! ;)

I personally found memrise much more effective after completing the duolingo tree which covered all the major grammar points. Memorizing words individually seemed quite strange when I didn't yet have a clear grasp on basic sentence structure and how words are pieced together. Nowdays when I am reading content and get the general gist of structure and just have discrete, individual words that I don't recognize, memrise is a lot better for straight up vocabulary building.

Also there's a new app that got started recently..... worth checking out. I haven't invested too much energy into it yet. https://www.clozemaster.com/

Clozemaster is really really good thanks for the heads up. It uses some really 'advanced' words in the sentences which is great as I see these words pop up in the Danish subtitles for TV programmes often but they are not words that come up on Duolingo, haven't come across them on memrise yet and some aren't even on Google translate. I'm sure this app will be really helpful in learning the meanings just from the context.

Our library has one called Mango Languages, and you can access it from home on their website. It's worth checking out if your local library is connected to it.
