I agree with the ticking, that's why when I own a house I'm going to put the clock in a place where I can't hear it from my bedroom. I don't like cuckoo clocks at all.I like how they look, but I cannot deal with the constant ticking they, or any other analog clocks do. Ticking clocks are a hefty dose of noise pollution in an otherwise quiet environment.
I've never actually operated one, since the last time I saw one in person was when I was a kid. How often do you wind them? Do the clock stop while you're winding?I had the good fortune to look after a large house for a year whilst the owner was away (no, I didn't break in and squat).
There was a grandfather clock in the hall and the tick-tock could be heard throughout the house. Beautiful sound and the chimes were awesome. The owner had shown me how to correctly wind the weights to keep it running, loved that clock.
