First off forgive any bad grammar on my part, I was never blessed with the gift of comma placement. Anyways, hello and thank you for allowing me to waist a bit of your time. I am twenty-one year old male who has Asperger's and has known it for about eight years now (give or take a month or three). Truth be told for a good chunk of that time, I forgot I had it. Recently though as I'm rediscovering social interaction I'm feeling more like my old aspie side is rearing it's head again. So that's why I'm here, to get indirect help in accepting my aspie side as part of who I am and maybe getting advice on how to deal with the psychiatric help I am going to be seeking in the near future.

Welcome to our community Muddigger :) I never saw anyone else on here say they forgot about their ASD & I'm really glad you did because I forgot about mine too, post diagnosis, for very many years & I find that a little incomprehensible these days, so Thanks for sharing, it really helps hearing others did / do this, also.

Hi, I can only wish to forget my Aspergers, but I don't really see it as an ugly aspect of my life with the exception of my nervous system being consistently out of whack. I like isolation, I like not having to meet others expectations of social norms, and I like that aspies are unique and gentle people. We have good hearts and good qualities and we need to accept ourselves as is. Of course, there's nothing wrong with self improvement, but please don't feel like you have to beat yourself up about having Aspergers either. Welcome to AC and I hope it leads you to positive feedback as it has for most of us.

Well...I hate to reply to my own thread but I have to say, I'm stunned by the reply's. As in that there is any. Thank you all. Also, don't worry Catlover, I don't like having Asperger's I don't act like it's my fault so I don't hound myself over it. I can find much more petty stuff to beat myself up with, like double posting on the internet! ;)

Replying to people at any time, double, or triple posting is normal here. We are aspies and the usual protocol is suspended in this place. The whole purpose is communicating, no one cares about awkwardness. :)
