I just found this site today, and I am really excited to see how much everybody has in common with me, just from my brief visit here so far. I'm in college and have Asperger's, and am extremely interested in sheep, genetics, biochemistry and molecular biology, Latin, and a few other areas. Hope to find others with similar interests and problems, and help each other out! I have very few friends and feel pretty alone most of the time. I'm just glad to have a chance to talk openly about all this. Most people think I am very weird because of what I love and because I lack social skills.

Well sweetlambs, you are going to fit in just fine here. And, you already have friends galore. I (and I know others), are looking forward to sharing with you in discussion, and getting your views and feelings.
Welcome
~Peace~

I like to read Thomas Aquinas in latin, am planning to continue to study chemistry, and used to have sheep.

Hi Sweetlambs! Welcome to Aspies Central. As Peace has wonderfully stated, you have definitely found a great place to find people who have lots in common with you. I am about to graduate from college in a five days, but I was a bio major in college because I love any kind of science (cell bio, environmental science, marine biology, o-chem, just to name a few). I also love animals too, especially cats. Sheep are so adorable by the way <3

Like Peace and I have said, you are definitely in great company if you ever want to talk with us. Feel free to chat with us any time and post often if you ever need anything.

Thanks everybody! I'd reply to each one of you individually but don't really have the time right now. I'm so excited to see people loving what I love!

It's so cool to be able to be totally open. It's impossible to be myself completely most of the time. I look fairly normal (not fashion-forward, but still pretty average) but when I talk to people, it typically either totally goes downhill, or people think I'm weird, not in a positive way. Yes, I was that kid who read through encyclopedias and dictionaries and now I go to thesis defenses, departmental seminars, lab product shows, and attend lectures in classes that I am years from actually being able to attend (like advanced biochem II)- but this I do with permission. I talk about my obsessions and nobody wants to hear about it, and I get strange looks for talking about retroviruses and potential antiviral treatments for sheep that I am currently trying to figure out now on my own. Oh well.
