I want to learn about other places people like to shop for their groceries around the world. Leave your favorite places to shop in the comments below!

Whatever I can find. Sometimes it's the pig (Piggly Wiggly), sometimes it's Festival Foods, sometimes it's Pick N' Save, and sometimes, if I have no other option, it's Walley World. I would prefer to never go in Walley World though.

I really hate going to the grocery store. I always come out of them very triggered. I usually go to the LIDL because it is relatively cheap. But it is also full of loud (not so intelligent) neurotypicals. Both shoppers and workers that really trigger me. Another is JUMBO. which is more like a common grocery store in the Netherlands. It is more expensive, but with a little lower trigger rate. I prefer the JUMBO. But my wallet and wife prefer the LIDL

And the supermarket I work at has some of the most bizarre ads I’ve ever seen.

I’m actually terrified of grocery stores. I’ve talked about this a lot on here. This might be a regional thing but the customers in grocery stores here are often aggressive, impatient and just plain mean. If you bump into them, you’re taking a while, you’re paying in cash, or your cart is in their way, they are on the warpath.
This probably gives away which state I live in lol, we have a widespread reputation for being unpleasant. I also live in a small, remarkably insular town where people are much more unfriendly than they are in the cities or the touristy areas.

I primarily shop at Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s and Target, as well as small local grocery stores, and specialty grocers like Asian and European markets and farmer’s markets.

I don’t particularly like the superstore chains like Walmart and Stop & Shop. They don’t usually have enough of a variety of products. They also tend to have more customers who are impatient and in a crappy mood.
For regular snacks and “junk” food, Target has much more variety.

I know that was a much snarkier post than my usual ones, but I have a really hard time with grocery stores, and I have very bad anxiety about dealing with rude people and taking unnecessary criticism so I usually only go grocery shopping once or twice a month.

There’s two small independent grocery stores near me that I frequent. I go to the grocery store quite frequently, but make very short trips and only buy a few things at a time.

The small grocery stores are more expensive, so occasionally I will go to the mega market, but I try to pop in and out as quickly as possible because it is very overwhelming.

I like the products and the prices at Trader Joe’s, but I’m certain that the staff there are trained to be excessively friendly. They are very invasive and I think they are required to ask at least one personal question per transaction. Across the board, they make comments about what’s going into the bag and then ask a question about something personal. I stopped going there. Too much.

Wow, I wouldn’t shop anywhere that the staff asked me personal questions! That hasn’t happened at the one near me although they are a bit annoyingly friendly and overly positive. I’m so sorry that happened to you!

The places I hate shopping at the most where I live are places where the staff remember me and act like they know me. It’s so awkward and weird.
No one here actually “knows” me, I make sure of that.

Bahah these look great! Recently I saw a silly body scrub thing that had slightly sexual connotations XD Me and my friend were quite weirded out. It was unhinged. I go to IGA in Australia that's just down the road, there's many shops accessible nearby :)

I shop at Publix. I prefer to go shopping as early in the morning as I can because of my sensory issues when it comes to noise and the store starts getting too loud for me later in the day. I know I can use my earbuds to muffle the noise and make it more comfortable but still it's just easier for me to do it early (it's also less busy, which is definitely a plus).

I also sometimes go to Winn-Dixie because it's not that far from Publix and I can walk easily to both stores but I prefer Publix because they have a better variety and they have much better subs than Winn-Dixie does because Publix subs are the BEST subs like genuinely if you ever come to Florida (or one of the other Southern States with Publix, although most of them are here in Florida), you gotta get a Publix sub.

When I'm at my summer home in Massachusetts, I usually go shopping at Shaw's. Sometimes Stop & Shop too but the Stop & Shop is over 5 miles away and Shaw's is less than 2 miles away. Stop & Shop has a better sushi selection though.

If I have to go there for something else, I'll also do grocery shopping at Walmart but Walmart is, well, Walmart and is always busy unless you literally go there at opening or late at night so I don't usually do my grocery shopping there unless I'm going there for something else or if there's something I know I can only get at Walmart.

Aww it's okay. There's this one girl that might recognise me from when I was a kid but we never talk so it's all good :p I got embarrassed recently when I recognised someone from when I was in school lol, wanted to hide

Oh no, seeing people from school is the worst lol!
I’m pretty sure everyone I went to high school with is now married with kids, so they probably no longer care that I exist and have no reason to bother me.
It gets better when you get older because they probably won’t recognize you, and usually no longer want to mess with you.

Like I said, I live in a small town, people talk a lot. The less people know about me, the better chances I have of not getting bullied, or having people pretend to be my friends :/

Thank you for understanding! This one seems to be especially friendly. I’ve been asked multiple times, “so what are you up to today?” This was always a hard question for me when I was depressed, on drugs, and suicidal. “Ummm…,” I would say, “not much today.”

I secretly wish I did again, especially if it was someone I'm actually friends with. But in some other cases... NO. THANKS. *blushes and hides away* >///<
People I went to school with are only one year older than me :P
Yeah,, lots of people from my school are actually pretty chill :) and true. I didn't get bullied much because I didn't open up much and only had a certain amount of close friends. I think that's a wise way to live for me -w-

Yeah, me too (not with those emotions). I usually reply with "Not much" instead of good. Once, I said "mediocre." Sometimes with "not much" I say that cause I know the other person doesn't actually want to know what I'm doing. It's just a polite question and answer ;)
