Hello everyone!

- which is something I would never say when entering a room in real life.

Anyways. I am a norwegian 26 year old female, got diagnosed with ASD this summer. I love animals, books, words in general, learning new things... I am a big fan of most of the things one can do alone, really.

Although I spend most of my time alone, I never feel lonely. But I would like someone to discuss and talk with, and it seems like there is a lot of nice and understanding people here!

Welcome aboard :)

Hello and welcome.

I am new here as well and everyone has been incredibly welcoming. I know you will have the same experience. I look forward to talking to you.

Thanks, everyone! I really enjoy reading through old threads, and seeing so many people who share my thoughts. Looking forward to get to know you people better! Just have to get rid of my anxiety for posting stuff, I have a tendency to think that my input is unnecessary, and that I would waste peoples time by making them read it. Silly, I guess.

Hello bowski
I have meet King Harald V one time when he traveled to Iowa, USA. My dads hometown of Decorah has a large group of Norwegian's living there. He was invited for one of the festivals.
I hope all is well with you.

That's cool! I think he seems nice. I had to google Decorah+norwegians because I've never heard about that town before. I had no idea that museums about norwegian-americans existed anywhere, that's a bit fascinating, really. Do they sell brown cheese in stores in Decorah? I love brown cheese.

And I am well, thank you. Hope you are too! :)

Yes we had the brown cheese and lutefisk. My parents didn't like the fish so I didn't have it to much.
I have been to that museum a number of times. Good times up there and lots of beer during Nordicfest.
My first car came with a bumper sticker that said "uff da".

I like the bumper sticker! Haha! I've never tasted lutefisk, it looks aweful. Nordicfest seems like a lot of fun. :)

Hi and a big welcome from Scandinavia!
:)

(would offer a welcome hug, but I'm very awkward when it comes to physical contact with strangers) ;)

Completely agree, people here are much nicer here than in the real world!
:)

Hello, and thank you! Also, thank you for not hugging, I'm awkard at receiving hugs. I would just stand there, with my arms hanging down, all paralyzed. Hah!

Where in Scandinavia do you live? If it's okey to ask.

And yes - people are very kind here, and a lot easier to communicate with. :)

I can sooo relate to that feeling... I'm just not sure if it's a good thing or not. [emoji4]

It's OK to ask, but I just don't feel comfortable to disclose this kind of personal information yet. Excuse me for comparing apples to oranges, but for me it's like going to strangers on the street and telling them I have Asperger's Syndrome. Does it make sense?
BTW sorry for hijacking your welcome thread and talking about myself.

I guess hugging (at least hugging strangers) can be overwhelming, at least if I'm not prepared for it. So in my mind I'm all "what is happening now, why is this person hugging me, what should I do?". So I end up doing nothing. :)

I have to think a bit about that comparison. To me, telling someone I have Aspergers is a very personal thing (and not something I do unless I have to), while telling someone where I live is more.. it's just a fact, that doesn't say anything more about me than where I live, really. I am not sure I got it. But i respect it anyways, it's not any of my business. :)

Don't worry hijacking the thread, I think it's nice.

For me they are the same, very personal information. I mean for all I know you could be some weird old guy sitting behind his desk and having fun at my expense. But it could just be my paranoia. [emoji3]

Thanks, now I don't feel that bad about it. [emoji4]

You're right, I could be a weird old guy. But I am not. And I hate having fun at other peoples expense, that always make me feel bad. It's a bit weird maybe, if someone does something stupid/embarassing and obviously feel embarassed, other people tend to laugh, but I just want to cry, or pretend I didnt see it. It's like I am the one getting embarassed. Don't feel that way about other peoples happiness though.. not anger, either. Or sadness. Only embarassment, really.

I'm a bit thoughtful today. Have a good one! :)
