I've read a number of the new introductions and appreciate what folks have shared in those introductions along with the warm welcomes and responses from so many on the board.
I have not been professionally diagnosed as an Aspie, but my suspicions in recent years have compelled me to read everything I can find out about it. It has become clear to me, through self-diagnosis, that I fit securely in the Aspie camp. It explains so much about the struggles I've experienced in my life - especially with my inability to pick up on social cues, not to mention the career path I have taken in order to find a place where my strengths and weaknesses were a good fit.
I come to this forum hungry to learn from so many who are on the same path and have gained valuable wisdom and insights along the way. I've been married for 40 years to my college sweetheart and have two grown children and two grandsons (one who is my clone and shows strong signs of Autism at the age of 4 - from my limited perspective anyway.)
On the bright side, I recognize that some of the most difficult challenges I've faced in my life have been the very things that have also built in me the strength, understanding, and ability to make some good decisions and effectively navigate this challenging path.
Thanks for allowing me to be a part of the discussion.
