Hello everyone

Ben Dollery

Well-Known Member
Hi. I've just joined this forum.

I was officially diagnosed with Asperger's when I was 6 years old back in 1997 (I'm almost 25 now). I am very pleased to be on here and I'm grateful that this forum is here, as I feel it will help me understand the way I am much more. I've often struggled to understand why I think the way I do and have all sorts of interesting feelings and emotions that I can't explain and don't know what triggers them. I find it hard and frustrating.

I try to enjoy life as much as I can, but I'm not as happy as I could or probably should be, which is the main reason for me joining this forum. I have a lot of dislike for myself, which I find really distressing, as I find it hard to accept who I am and the way I am, even though my family and people around me tell me that there is no need for me to feel like this. I have a lot of unpleasant thoughts about myself.

Just to give you a bit more information about me. I'm a very keen petrolhead who loves cars and motorsport. I also really like listening to music, comedy, I enjoy reading (although not all the time) and I'm also quite interested in the paranormal.

I very much look forward to becoming part of this forum.

Many thanks. Ben.

Welcome to Aspies Central Ben, you sound like you'll fit right in. There are a few petrolheads here already, that I can't say I approve of :)(kidding) you should get along just fine. Mia

Welcome to our community Ben Dollery Feeling bad or anxious about ourselves can often be our default setting, sadly, so being on this site & reading about / mixing with others who are in similar situations & whom face similar challenges is really helpful in re-educating ourselves to know & understand: We are equally valid & great people!! :)

Welcome, we're very pleased to have you here!!! Mia is right, there are a few petrolheads here already. You'll no doubt bump into Nitro; I think he's our master petrolhead. I also enjoy motorsports myself. In the mean time, browse around, meet the gang, and make some friends along the way.
Welcome aboard! Did I hear my name? I bleed Chevrolet orange, sweat gasoline, have nitromethane and methanol on my breath, and will race for food :p
