Hello Everyone

I just received my autism diagnosis today after taking the ADOS-2. I feel a bit like Neo from the Matrix after he took the red pill. i'm 57 so it is quite a shock to me even though I've always felt different. I had taken an online autism test and scored really highly. I thought there must be some mistake, so I took a bunch of others I found and they all said the same thing, "You should think about getting tested for autism". Anyway, I enjoy playing the piano, and love art and theater. I don't have any friends, so that is something I plan on working on.

Welcome, and I wish you success in finding friends. Some here, me included, have social difficulties. Some are still lost in understanding the social, some have worked past the social immaturity, and some have been traumatized from the experience or the isolation it creates.

For me discussions here are frequently cathartic and helpful.

Welcome @rach3rd

Now that you have taken the red pill there is a whole new world and way of looking at things to discover. Rather re-discover; for what you thought is the way things are is not quite the way things are. Its quite a journey to learn the new landscape - but enjoy the ride. Do join in the discussions here.

Hi and welcome. I took the green pill. The red ones looked a bit iffy. But I'm sure you'll be ok.

This is a friendly and supportive site with plenty of interesting discussions. I hope you enjoy it here.

Welcome from another with a late diagnosis, although mine was in my mid 40s.

I many acquaintances, but the distinction of friend has always been an iffy thing for me. If hard pressed, I would say I have made two in my life, one I have not seen in decades but we still exchange birthday wishes. The other is my spouse.

True friends are hard to come by, so I think I have done okay.

I am 54 and have self diagnosed. Like you I took every online test I could find and have spent considerable time reviewing my experiences to confirm a.s.d. at least to myself.
I probably won't persue an official diagnosis because of the expense.
But I feel like I have been staring at one of those "magic eye" pictures and finally see the image clearly.

Welcome rach3rd.

I'm 64 and was diagnosed in my mid fifties.
It seemed strange at first, but, it also explained a lot of things about my life.
So, I'm glad I had it done.

I've been here ever since at these forums. I felt like I was reading about my life at first,
but, it has been a helpful and interesting place.
Hope you find it helpful also.

Hi...welcome, I was diagnosed a year ago at 44. It has been good to me to know and this forum is helping validate myself and has some good people, I hope you find benefits too from your diagnosis and the forum.
