Hello Everyone!!

Salmongirl17

I'll try to make a full return
I've been officially been diagnosed with Aspergers, ADD, and ADHD now for about 5 or 6 years now.

Life has been overwhelming for me-- it took me up until 5th grade (I'm now in 7th) to realize how differently I acted when compared with my classmates.

Over that period of time, I realized I barely had any friends and wanted a new fresh start. I've completely changed my personality, my name, the clothes I wear. I have many friends now. I just wish that there were more people like me that I could communicate with more often.

Welcome Salmon girl I am sure you will be able to find someone similar here
and I am sure you will be able to find a friend or ten here

Welcome Salmon girl, plenty of friends to be had around here. Not to mention conversations. Lets start with the story behind your name.
Cheers

I think lots of us have learned to adapt a public persona, almost as though we are acting a part. That's okay, it helps to be able to function in the NT world. Let's face it, most of us have to work for a living, and we're going to have to deal with social sitations now and then. So, kudos to you for having the strength to go out of your comfort zone. But it's nice to know that there are people who understand, right?

Hi salmongirl,
I don't know if you want any advice but i think i might give it anyway. Don't ever change yourself to suit other people.

I CAN'T STRESS THIS STRONGLY ENOUGH!!!

Oh, and by the way, welcome

"It's a part of us all"

My name: ok, so I got the nickname of "salmon" back many years ago when I was always leaving my classes and the next class was coming in. My teacher noticed this (salmon swim upstream) and there came my nickname. I now use this as almost all of my online names. "Girl" because I'm a girl. "17" because that's my lucky number. Yay!!!

thats interesting salmongirl. why follow the crowd any way, you would not have been noticed otherwise.

For me I just simply blended in, and no originality with my user name. I just like to be called by my name

Cool story, was hoping there'd be some dragons in there as well. Dont you love the look on people's face when you go against the flow. All of a sudden, they have this momentary look of "she seems to know something we dont "

Hi salmongirl, I'm glad you found us. I feel sad that you had to change yourself to be accepted. That happened to me too, and it has left me with terrible self-esteem. I wish we, as Aspie's, could be accepted for the unique, quirky people we are. In the meantime, this is a safe place to be who you really are, so welcome to our little corner of the world.
