Hello everyone !

Raul

Researcher
My name is Raul, I am 22 years old and I come from Romania. Currently student at Faculty of Engineering, Department Automation and Applied Information Science. After graduating I would like to find a suitable workplace in the Engineering field, either Hardware or Software oriented.
Besides my studies I really enjoy free time activities like reading books, playing chess, cycling ( a lot ), drawing different sketches and going fishing ( only in the summer season ).
I was diagnosed with Asperger's a while ago by a psychotherapist. There were many aspects that talked in favor of this syndrome like general anxiety, social fobia, OCD and also the fact that I can talk in great detail about any subject I learned in school till now. I know that society nowadays, in my country at least, are not giving enough support for people suffering of this syndrome or autists so I guess I will have a hard time later on in life.
Still, I am pleased to meet you all and I hope that I will integrate myself in the Aspies Community.

The best wishes from Romania !

Hey there, Raul! Best wishes to you too! :)

I hope you'll find this a helpful and friendly place. Browse around, ask questions, lurk, whatever suits your fancy.

Hello Raul, welcome to AspiesCentral!

Hi doordoctor,

The Engineering field is quite extensive and with the notions I learned in university and in my practice period I could have a variety of options. Door hardware industry ( or Ironmongery ) sounds nice because certain door locks integrate digital alarm systems. Of course there are the classical door lock systems but I only learned one year Mechanics.
Yes indeed, I meant computer hardware or such, but not only that. The maintenance engineers might require me to check even the hardware parts of the industrial robots.

ohh cool, so in a way it also ties into factory maintenance as well

yes, them locks, many are now smarthome compatible (lock/unlock your door with cell phone) as well as biometrics, as time passes, they get more and more sophisticated and you seem to need a degree in computing to really understand them (haha same with cars these days too!)

one software I have heard of years ago when I was in high school, was called Doors for windows, it was the software end of Kerisystems magnetic locks and door monitoring system (door locked? is it flapping in the breeze because the closer is not working or is someone holding it open allowing a stranger to enter the building?) some can be just a few doors hooked up to a network, some soo complex

my specialty is actually door closers, the device at the top (or in the floor or above in head frame) that pulls it shut, simple, mechanical and people always have ???'s about them and even they can get into automation (power operators for handicap doors)
