Hello, I am James.

My name is James and I live in Oklahoma City with my roommate. I am twenty years old and about to start college in the fall. I am a white male about six foot one or so and have recently lost about a hundred pounds. I am pretty friendly and I try to be fair to everyone. I am new to this site and have never been apart of any forum site. I sought out this type of site because not many people in my "realm" (area, friends, family, work) can relate to or understand the way I think and feel. I feel lonely at times because I am afraid to open my mouth in fear of what might come out, and when I do speak I end up feeling ashamed or embarrassed. I am kind of shy at times when it comes to discussing my Aspergers Disorder or "High Functioning Autism", because I don't want people to think I am using it as a crutch or an excuse. I am; however, really excited to learn from other people and hear about their experiences and how they cope with this disorder so I may better myself in life.

Welcome James :)

I hope that you feel comfortable here. Congratulations too on loosing 100 pounds!

Hello James,
Having Aspergers is not an affliction, but a gift. It is simply describing how we look at life differently than most. You always hear common wisdom saying "Don't Follow The Crowd, Be Yourself", well no group does that better than us. Delight in your gift and concentrate on what you love. Do not live in fear, but in hope my friend.

I really appreciate you all! I've been working a lot lately so I haven't had time to properly thank you all for welcoming me here. I really like what I see so far and I feel like I am in good hands. It's really awesome that I can talk and collaborate with others who see things the way I do. I think this community will really help me better myself. :)
