hi, my name is Erika but you can also call me Makenna or Kenny if you want. I’m 18 years old and neurodivergent (I’m autistic and I also have ADHD + anxiety. I’ve been diagnosed for the past thirteen years now (Asperger’s syndrome diagnosis with low-support needs). I go by any pronouns and I’m also LGBTQ+ as well. I really love talking about my special interests, most notably South Park and Nintendo games (mostly Splatoon). Some of my other interests include anime, Japanese culture, plushie collecting, meteorology, and medical terminology. I really like drawing and I draw a lot in my spare time.

Hello & welcome.

Does that mean that you have little need for support [ASD1] or have a severity level that needs support [ASD2/3]?
(I am a little confused by your wording...

I’m referring to ASD1. I’m really bad at phrasing things correctly, and it seems too wordy to say rather than high functioning autism as some autistic people prefer to not use functioning labels. I have a cousin that’s also autistic (ASD2/3) and my best friend is also autistic too (ASD1/ASD2). If I recall the ASD support levels are requiring support, requiring substantial support, and requiring very substantial support or something like that.

These days, it refers to how much support is needed and is a "grade" on one's co-morbid conditions, rather than on the autism, itself.

Thanks so much for the useful tidbits above. ^_^ I’m still trying to get over the habits I learned while being in Facebook groups for autistic people (don’t shame self diagnosis, ABA is always bad, never use “has autism”, functioning labels are always bad, etc)

Welcome, I am happy to hear that you found us. I too am fascinated with Japanese culture, most particularly woodblock printing and coloring. I have two. One my great Aunt gave me is a print from the Pilgrim Road series of Hiroshige.

Hi Erika, welcome! :)
I'm also part of the LGBTQ+ community, I'm technically genderfluid/nonbinary but I mostly use female pronouns now, and I'm okay with being referred to as female (I was born female). I'm also asexual/aromantic.

I also require very little/almost no support and live on my own and run my own business.
I love talking about my special interests too, I'm a professional dog trainer and most of my interests are dog-related, but I'm also an artist and a musician and I love the outdoors, and cooking, and video editing, among many other things!
I currently have 7 amazing dogs, they are all in my signature below!

Your interests sound really cool and wholesome :) I love collecting plushies too and I have a lot of dog and cat plushies and unicorns. Feel free to talk about your special interests all you want, we have lots of fun threads for that!

I hope you like it here, and make some friends! :)
