Hello! My best friend is an Aspie and I wrote an article about it!

Hello,

I decided to join since I have a best friend that was diagnosed as being on the spectrum and having Aspergers.

I wanted to share my experience, shine a bit of light on what my friend experiences and encourage other people to be more understanding of why certain reactions happen.

Also just to share my love for Aspies and how great they are.

Here is a link to the article I wrote:

Cheers,
Melissa.

Hi Melissa :)

Somewhat simplistic (the article you wrote, not you ;)). But positive at least, and backed up by your experiences, so kudos for that. Aspies have a lot of variety and often severe struggles.

Thank you both! I tried to keep it simple Tom, for the sake of a general audience. I have ADHD and I know what the general opinion or stereotypes associated with it typically are. I'm not a fan of generalizing, but I think the article gave a nice positive intro into some of the best aspects of Autism and some of the basic struggles people can go through. I'm happy to be part of this community and looking forward to learning more about other people's experiences.

My best friend calls me “my *real name*” and says she loves me because there’s no one else like me. She often has to deal with people asking why I’m so rude/quiet/shy/weird. She says thats just her and I love her.

Btw I’m undiagnosed.

You'll find a lot of traits and differing aspects of being on the spectrum here.
And most are willing to talk openly and honestly and answer questions.
