When I introduced myself earlier, I was on my phone and didn't quite understand I could make my own post to say hello. Since I typed up a novel in the intro thread I'll try and keep it short.

Basically, HELLO. You can all me Gummi for now. I'm 28 years old and currently awaiting diagnosis. I just started seeing a specialist who's helping me navigate my sensory issues. Our main goal is to get me some self confidence and identity. So I can feel comfortable stimming when other people are around and stuff like that to improve my quality of life. I figured joining a community like this is a good step. I look forward to learning from all of you and possibly connecting on some issues! So far, it's been very pleasant and welcoming. Not at all what I'm used to. Uhm. Okay bye! *WAVES* :)

Don't be bothered that you write a lot it's very common ,I didn't do it on my first post but I think it's because I'm brainwashed by my mother who was a solicitor ( like an attorney )to give only very relevant information.
There is a saying in the UK 'talk the hind leg off a donkey 'and I could do that ,I have literally talked until I went hoarse , my mother said "for G~ds sake let people talk".
The one thing I am still trying to learn is to talk in paragraphs as people dislike endless sentences.
I still don't like forums there is not one that I have come across where people are not harsh .
Even when I've explained I am autistic which means I am very sensitive .
So I try to post as little as possible .

Thank you for this. Sorry to hear about your mother talking to you like that. My mother is just like me in this area so I'm fortunate in that respect.

I've always struggled with this, it's scared a few potential friends away and I'm quite sensitive myself. - At art and science camp as a little kid I was excited when I heard I was going to get an award, only to walk to the front and be awarded "Little Miss Chatterbox".

I don't have any alarm going off to tell me when to stop. I've tried controlling it. When I get a handle on it, my answers start to sound curt, and people think I'm upset with them. I have a document in my brain saved of every time anybody ever made a comment about it, it's been a real confidence sucker! Thanks again for pointing that out to me. It makes me feel good to not be alone.

Welcome Gummi! Having read both your posts, I'm sorry to hear that you have struggled so much without getting the support you need. I can relate to getting a late diagnosis, only got mine 2 years ago at 21. I realized that there is a good reason why I am different, and that my attempts to change myself to be "normal" my whole life were misguided; however, it can still be extremely difficult to be confident in your new identity after so many years. I also joined this community as a step to gaining more confidence, hope it helps you as it has helped me. :)

Welcome to the Wonderland. We are all mucked up here :)
I'm joking.
Welcome to the forum! Nice to meet you. :D
