Hi folks

Just thought I should at least post once.

I'm 46, recently diagnosed with mixed neurodevelopmental disorder (ADHD/Asperger's) though I still feel a fraud, that this diagnosis must be wrong and that I am just pretty rubbish at 'being' in this world. Years of depression, anxiety etc. Failed at school, scraped through university, no career, just drifted between low level admin type jobs.

Married and we are childfree by choice, instead we have two greyhounds (down from four dogs a couple of years ago). I have twin brothers in their 30s that still live with my parents. They have some form of intellectual disability but never properly diagnosed as far as I am aware (it was the 80s and my family is a little dysfunctional ) though I am now recognising certain autistic signs.

My reason for being here is to try and make sense of things, read other's stories, look for ways to cope etc.

I'm not really sure what information to share so please do ask.

Just wanted to say it's great to see another Childfree person on here!

Also, you don't even look close to being 50; you could be in your 30s :D

Thank you :)

That photo is about 4 years old though!
It is me and my closest doggy friend, Bill, who died a couple of years ago.

I do get that comment a lot though, people think I am late 30s usually - much to my wife's annoyance!

Hello :)

Great dogs.
I have a Lurcher who’s doing a really great impersonation of a Brindle Greyhound.
He’s even ‘jacked-up’ at the back (like a race horse) for speed.

He’s amazing to watch free running in a huge open space.
That initial burst. Almost flying.

Welcome to AF :)

Hi Hermitical!

This place is great to settle in with your diagnosis. I don't feel rubbish at being in this world anymore. I feel way more that I fit in after joining and reading about people and their experiences. I hope you'll feel the same way too.

Hi hermetical, welcome. Oh those dogs are so beautiful! I hope you enjoy it here and find plenty of useful information and threads to read and respond to.
