I am new on the forum my name is jimmy I was diagnosed with Asperger's at the age of 13, I am now 24. I am fairly independent, I drive my own car, a beat up 2004 Buick century, which I am very proud of. My big special interest is history. I am a really outgoing person. And for those wondering about my screen name I chose it because of my somewhat different way of coping, namely because of my Asperger's being caught later I adjusted to being hugged before they knew what was going on with me and then I noticed hugging helped me decompress enough to talk out my emotions after I got comfortable with it.

I am glad I am not the only one same here about the types of hugs. I have found flimsy hugs really uncomfortable and I have a select few people I go to for hugs though and I never let other males give me a hug as it still feels really weird and all my muscles tense like back when I was very anti-touch but worse

I love hugs! :D

From certain people. ;)

Otherwise, it feels like a burning infection seeping into my skin. :)

Hmm. The hug thing is interesting. When I was younger, my therapist had me ask my mom for a hug when I was anxious/upset. It calmed me right down!

Hi and welcome!

Sometimes when I'm feeling anxious or down, I feel like I would appreciate a hug and show of caring.
Only a certain few.
But, I grew up with that from my Mom and it always made me feel better.
She was the only one I could feel that connection with.
People in general I don't like it when they want to give me a hug or handshake.
