Hi,
I have a little girl 6yr old with ASD. Joining you to try and understand a bit more how she understands the world, and mostly ask for advice on making the best choices for her.
I know it's a luxury to have choice, but it's a bit responsibility too and I sometimes feel whatever I do it's not good enough.
Looking forward to getting to know you.
Hannah

Hi Chris, and welcome. Hope you find answers that you are looking for, but remember your daughter is an individual with her own unique likes, dislikes, needs, wants, talents and skills, etc.

Welcome to the Forums! I hope you make new friends and enjoy your stay in the process! :)

Yes she is. Looking for opinions rather than answers mostly! As an NT there's things I don't 'get'....

Welcome Chris_uwd.
Hope you can find some understanding of how we think, feel, and see the world.
Plenty of posts and ask some specific questions you might have.
Maybe we can answer them through our eyes.

I like talking to understanding NT's and learning differences in how we see things and all. The other day I was talking to my sister and explaining how when I look at something that's all I see. I don't see an entire wall, for instance, I see one thing at a time and scan. I was taught to look at people's eyes when I was little and in speech therapy - taught by having staring contests with my brother and I got really good. But now I think that's what I do - I stare into people's eyes and they end up having to look away. Also, I don't see other facial features, so I couldn't say if you had a beard or not. She sees the entire wall and everything on it and I can't imagine what that's like.
Anyway, my point is I enjoy making the comparisons - it's interesting. I always thought everyone was basically the same, but - wow - was I wrong. :)

Thank you. I've posted already about making a decision for B's education/school, there's no rush for deciding but... It's such a big responsibility and so hard to know what's best. And there is such a gulf between therapies offered and lived experience... And everyone is so different, and I can't ask B!!

Yeah, it's incredible isn't it? I only recently learned not everyone experiences emotions in colour....
