Hello!

I've recently found out I have Aspergers and am finding out so much about myself, my life and why I am the way I am. It's great to finally feel somewhat normal. :wavespin:

Some information on me:
I'm female, 28 years old and from Denmark. I work in IT and I'm very shy, so please do talk to me; I more than likely won't start or join a conversation unless asked/forced or invited to.

Not sure what to say other than Hello! people I did not know where like me. :spin:
I'm still finding out what parts are Aspergers and what is just me, and how to deal with it all. But I am already much more comfortable being an aware Aspie than before.

Hi, welcome to this forum. I am glad you feel so great to be learning about this. This really is a good online community. :bounce:

I am very interested in Denmark, because they seem to do things better there than they do in most other cultures. What is it like to live there?

Hello, nice to meet you! Welcome to aspiescentral, I'm sure you'll find support and friendship here. I'm pleased for you that you've been able to get the diagnosis, it can be a life changer in a positive way. Take care :)

Hello everyone,

I am also new. I did not get an official diagnosis, my counselor told me that I most likely have it. I also took an online test which confirmed what she said.
It is really nice to know that I am not the only one who has problem with social situations.

Hello Junior and Thomas! Welcome to Aspies Central. I think you both will enjoy what we have to offer here very much. There is a ton of information to be learned about AS and other ASDs - feel free to look around and see if there is anything you would like to discuss with us. Questions are always welcome here. We're extremely friendly and understanding (I like to compare our lovely community to a close-knit family because we are always there for one another).

I guess one of the most important moments in the life of any aspie is when they find out who they are, specially because we tend to be very introspective and probably have already spent an uncountable time trying to figure out what was wrong with us, and the only sure we have is that we are not like everyone. At least I can say that for myself.

Hi and welcome juniorvindahl, Historianthomas & other newbies! I'm also a newbie here. Cool place, it rocks!

Well, we have a great tradition of helping those who are weaker in areas than most, and those who need it. The prevailing philosophy is that everybody should have the same chances in life as everyone else. Science and reserach is important to us to get better, and many steps are taken to make sure it is utilized in practice as well. Of course, some things are swamped in bureaucracy, but we take it as it comes and soldier on. I think most of it comes from being an old nation with few troubles. We have to time, space and wealth to do it.

In general it is a great country. There is little to complain about, even though it is what we do most. But we are very privileged to have almost all the help we need free of charge - some things are to be paid for when it comes to health care, but make a good case and the state might pick up the bill anyway.

Thank you! Though, I haven't gotten an official diagnosis yet. The company I work for is helping me get it. But through my own research and investigation, I am 99% sure that aspie is what I am. So far my therapist is agreeing.

Absolutely not alone. I very rarely know what to do in social situations, so I usually do nothing. I suppose it doesn't help that I find it very difficult to read facial expressions. where other people (NTs at least) see 17 emotions I just see a face. Over time I build up a catalouge of people in my life's facial expressions and what they mean. It let's me interact better but it takes a while and some intense observation. The first 3 months at my current job I was mainly staring at people ;)

Thank you :) It sounds wonderful. And what every aspie needs. I look forward to being part of it all.

It has been a revelation finding Aspergers and finding me in it. It has explained so much, and I learn new things every day. I have a calm about myself I haven't had before and I'm finding so many ways to help myself have a better life. Simple things I wouldn't have thought of would make an impact. I love it.
