Hello

Well-Known Member
Greetings! I'm a 22 year old and somewhere on the autism spectrum. Based on the old DSM, I'm pretty sure I'd fall under PDD-NOS.

I'm trying to get a diagnosis but finding someone is difficult for me. >_< I have a hard time sifting through a lot of information, and I have a strong mistrust of doctors (especially psychiatrists).

I'm on the GAPS diet to heal my insides, which has been challenging since I cook and wash all my own dishes by hand.

Some other random info: I'm asexual, I love anime, my fixation is psychology and understanding/analyzing people and I'm an INFJ personality type.

Hi Ponyo! Welcome to Aspies Central. I'm kind of the same way with info processing. I often need time to write things down in order to comprehend the information. I've read that a characteristic that has been noted in ASDs is a difficulty in processing auditory information (of course this doesn't apply to ALL individuals with ASDs, but it has been noted; not really sure how strong the correlation between having an ASD and having challenges in processing auditory info is - I might look into that).

I also agree that not all doctors are trusting, but I would suggest asking your friends and acquaintances if they know a doctor that might be suitable for you. Based on my own personal experience, I have discovered that sometimes there is a deeper value in following advice of someone you know personally than there is with following advice from strangers.

As for the forum, I hope you enjoy everything we have to offer here. Feel free to post any questions, concerns, or insights you might have.

P.S.: I haven't seen the movie, but I have seen the trailer for Ponyo (at least the one that was released in North America) and it looks awesome. I bet the original Japanese version is still the best though; I don't say that to sound prejudiced or anything, I'm just noting that I have found that anime is best in Japanese because I've noticed that dubbed versions of many anime series cut out very important details.
