Hi everyone,
I'm Matt, and I was diagnosed with Aspergers when I was 13. I'm now 34, and really just within the last few years started opening up with some friends about my diagnosis. For the most part they have been supportive and understanding. Growing up, especially in high school I knew I was different, and didn't understand why until I was 19 when I was finally told about my diagnosis. Being a Trekkie I always felt like Spock being half Vulcan and not understanding humor. In the last several years I've been getting support services through the state, and now I'm getting health and counseling services which are starting to really help me with what I'm dealing with because of being on the spectrum.

Welcome Matt, its good to hear that your starting to find yourself, in all this. Looking forward to chatting with you more.

Cheers
Turk

Hi Matt, welcome to Aspiescentral. There are a lot of wonderful people here as well as useful information and tips for handling life as an Aspie. We are pretty open, so feel free to ask us questions, and we'll answer as honestly as we can. I'm glad you found us.

I've been wondering if there's anyone else on here that lives on Long Island. I'm trying to find some friends who are dealing with issues similar to what I'm dealing with. Over the years I've unfortunately lost friends who just couldn't handle the fact that they had an Aspie for a friend, and they all walked out of the friendship.
