Helloooooo

AbbyNied

Art and stuff
Hi everyone! My name is Abby. I am almost 30 and I live in Los Angeles where I attempt to work as an artist and for film and television.

I am here to try and make some friends. I had a lot of trouble with Asperger's as a kid because I wasn't diagnosed until I was 18. After my diagnosis and through going to college and living independently and having jobs, I learned how to blend in. People don't know I have Asperger's when they meet me because I am so good at acting neurotypical. I don't want to do that anymore. It's exhausting and it doesn't gain me any true friendships. I am very lucky to have a couple good friends and a girlfriend who know the real me. Now I feel like I want to meet more people like myself who have a diagnosis because that is where the realness is.

Here is a list of my interests which are basically my life.

GAMES I PLAY SERIOUSLY
PC - Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 and 2, Sims 2, Zoo Tycoon
NES - Super Mario Bros, Super Mario 3, Dr. Mario, Bubble Bobble
SEGA GENESIS - Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, Sonic The Hedgehog 1 and 2
GAME BOY - Pokemon Red, Yellow, Gold, Crystal
ARCADE - Ms. Pacman, Galaga

TV I WATCH RELIGIOUSLY
South Park, It's Alway's Sunny in Philadelphia, Seinfeld, The Facts of Life,
Daria, Parks and Recreation, Bob's Burgers
All 90's Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network.
Early 2000's Adult Swim

MUSIC ON CONSTANTLY
The Spice Girls, 60's - 80's Classic Rock and R&B, 90's - early 2000's rap, hip-hip, rock, pop.
Electronic and video game music. Remixes and Mashups.

OTHER OBSESSIONS
Coloring books, cosplay, dinosaurs and reptiles, my snake Monty the python, VHS tapes and found footage, Rubik's Cube, Jigsaw Puzzles, Dog person. Macbook Pro that uses game emulators and Windows XP for hacked games.

Besides that, I am currently trying to break a Guinness World Record. 20 years ago when I was 10, I started hand crocheting a chain of yarn as a reliever of anxiety. It really worked for me and I never stopped. I rolled the chain into a ball and now it weighs over 200 pounds and is wider than doorways. I will one day have the chain measured and attempt to beat the current record of 80 miles when I have the funds to do so.

I have a GoFundMe here with more info on how to help!

Welcome Abby, I am also an artist doing photography way up north here in Alberta, and I do lots of it! Just added you on Instagram

You seem to live a very interesting life.
Also; you are into game emulation and Leslie Hall, which means we have something in common. =)

hi abby, welcome to AC,your in the right place!
i think your art work is incredible i love your style. by the way,if you want to get a bit more recognition, upload your image work to your gallery, you get a gallery on here [i dont think its just people with a VIP account who get a gallery,it should be under the media category] and we can all comment on each picture and so forth.
i noticed youve painted doug from the cartoon 'doug',wow i loved that show, and daria to,i still love it, she was so obviously on the spectrum.

Hello Abby, and welcome to AC; you've made the right choice here by joining. I'm here to gain some more insight on Asperger's because my psychologist told me I have it. I've been suspecting it all along. I am actually terrible at acting neurotypical. I've tried so hard to fit in during college that it just made everything totally worse. I too have a few friends nowadays (a huge upgrade from zero) who see most aspects of the real me and still want to be around me. I don't have a girlfriend and I've never dated (I'm almost 30 years old).

I have various unusual interests surfacing, some being present longer than others - but otherwise I'm a pretty boring guy. I don't have any ambitions in life and I constantly play this online card game nowadays (well, I could say reaching Legend rank in that game is sort of an ambition?). Some of my current and past interests include streetlights, construction machinery, bottle caps, Isuzu tow trucks, school ceiling intercoms, high rise buildings, 4-digit numbers that start with 9, square roots/numeric divisibilities...and at one point I used to be very artistic and creative, having written various stories, poems and a few songs. I used to create mock cities in my home as a kid, with many toy construction sites and I made mock street lights out of straws (for the poles) and paper cutouts (for the actual light portions). I used to draw construction sites and streetlights, and I used to create imaginary cities in my head with imaginary lights & sites. I used to even draw maps of those imaginary cities and pretend I was riding in a car through those cities. Power poles sort of interest me as well because they often have lights attached to them. I'm still interested in streetlights but not nearly as much as before. Construction sites though - never diminished.

I was thinking about breaking a world record once (nothing specific, just any record at all) because I wanted to be famous - but after looking at all the world record books I found out that I don't really have any natural talents that would allow me to do so.
