Speaking long-term, you could go to Meetup groups and find a group to join in your local area. There is also a group called "Toastmasters International" that will help your professional public speaking skills.

I did mean Pick Up Artist.

Although Potentially Unwanted Application also sums up pickup artists quite well.

ok, some of the romance tips dont sound very good or respectful, but the friendship tips seem trustworthy.

Huh. I haven't found any friendship tips to speak of. I've given this site another look-through just to be sure I didn't miss anything, and there is really not much of anything about friendship. Making conversation, sure. Meeting people, sure... assuming that you meet people in clubs, or maybe in Starbucks... excuse me, "Starbocks" :tearsofjoy:. There is not much on this site about making new friends, or even about being the type of person who has friends.

The closest thing to this the section on "How To Be A Man". Note: nothing on how to be a woman, or how to be an adult human. Personally, I would be more interested in advice about how to be a fully-functioning adult, as opposed to an adult of either gender, but even the advice about how to be a man is stereotypical and superficial, and will cause pain and heartbreak if followed to the letter. It's not even about how to be an adult, either, but how to imitate some prototypical "Man" figure.

Then there's the particularly cringe-inducing section on how to win a conversation. Yep, you read that right. Win... a conversation. That sound you hear is me saying "huh?" from all the way over here.

That pretty much sums up my issues with this site. Although occasionally it offers up some good but common-sense advice (don't assume your perspective is gospel, have a more emotion-based conversation to seem more relatable, etc) it's presented here as all surface-level stuff, and solely as a means to an end. As in, do this, but don't really mean it.

I think I'll pass, thanks.

This one?
How to win any descussion

When I clicked it, it didn't go to anything.

Fortunately, there is Calvin and Hobbes.

Usually the way to "win a discussion" is by delivering a smackdown of cold hard facts. A factdown, if you will It doesn't even matter if the facts are relevant or not. Your goal is to make your opponent go through the equivalent of a thesis defense while you throw random numbers and sources and facts and figures and factoids and rumors and half-remembered bovine scatology and what have you. Then, when they get tired of this nonsense, you declare yourself the winner and strut off victorious. You're like a chess-playing pigeon. Make a lot of noise, spew a lot of crap, knock the pieces over, then fly off like you've won.

This take (behind a paywall, and not worth linking anyway) is interesting. It wasn't focused on the brawny factual warfare of the fragile male ego, I mean superior alpha-male intellect, but instead pandered to the weaker inferior emotion-driven female mode of conversation. It's basically using "I" statements like they teach in conflict resolution seminars, only with the goal of getting what you want instead of reaching a mutually agreeable conclusion. Yeah, that ain't gonna work. And saying you will win any discussion by pretending to be a bare-minimum decent person instead of a callow manchild? Kinda overselling it a bit.

Of course, if your goal is to "win" a discussion, it doesn't matter who "wins" because you're already a loser.
