Helping People With Learning Disabilities

The Penguin

Chilly Willy The Penguin
As myself official diagnosis with a learning disability and overcoming many struggles over the course of my life, I have interest helping others to succeed in life.

I don't find it fair many people in this world with a learning disability is rob out of many opportunities in life.

I want to share my life experience and educate people to ensure people with learning disability can have employment opportunities and other type of support that they may need.

My first step will be creating my own YouTube channel and share my life experience of many things I over come. I would also have a website that links to organizations than can offer support.

Eventually I would like to have my own organizations to help people with learning disability for employment and life skill issues.

I'm hoping to have this site ready within the next 2 to 3 months. I already have a fair amount of contacts to help me get things started.

hi penguin, when you say learning disability do you mean the UK or US definition?
i have learning disability under the UK definition [which as you might know means intellectual disability] and would be very interested in your up and coming media.
if you mean LD under the US definition, i have those to,eg ive been told by specsavers im dyslexic but i dont have a diagnosis as specialists had always put everything under the learning disability label.
i also think i have the maths version of dyslexia [i forgot its name] as my mild intellectual disability is not accountable for my huge maths and number problem,i coudlnt recognise basic numbers till adulthood.

i wish you all the best for your ideas and hope you dont put to much pressure on yourself to come up with the goods by making this thread.

I have AS, but contrary to popular belief I don't have a learning disability, I can learn things, like 15 years ago I taught myself basic HTML from books and I am currently learning the Korean terms and words of Taekwondo having took it up about 5 weeks ago.

As regards Maths work though, I can do mental arithmetic almost literally with my eyes shut, put a page of sums in front of me though and I can't do it beyond basic arithmetic.
