Hi! Another newly diagnosed newbie here

Hi everyone,
I was diagnosed eight days ago and it is taking some processing. I'm 38yo and now I'm looking back trying to figure out what is caused by what. I have also been diagnosed with a major depressive and anxiety disorder. My psychiatrist is now thinking that a good part of this might be because I struggle a lot when things don't go according to plan or in a way that can be planned for. I feel a bit lost to be honest.

Hi Cazelle

welcome to af.webp

Warm welkome to the forums. i understand you might feel lost and overwhelmed as do i from time to time but take it from me. the BEST thing you can do is to learn about all youre diagnosis ONE by one and not try to solve it all at once. & NOT try to compare yourself to others with same diagnosis And also ACCEPT youre diagnosis and try to find a way to adapt to them. and DONT be afraid to ask for help or support be it in here or otherwise.

And lastly youre EXACTLY the same person you were before this diagnosis. The only difference is you now have an answer in why you had /have certain problems in life NOTHING else have changed.

Welcome Cazelle - I deal with similar issues as I reflect on ADD, anxiety, interests, failures, fears, and confidence. I have to comb through events and circumstances many times before I get clarity. I always uncover new issues that I had never considered. I'm curious to understand everything, but that doesn't change the reality I have come to know. I keep notes as I try to place events in time order and references to memory. It's a complicated 3-D puzzle, but it helps me learn about myself. I see the patterns.

Thank you all for your welcomes :-). I am trying not to 'over-analyse' or process too much at once, but it seems to be the way I think - ie, way too much!
