Hi, from Maggie and our family

Hi. I've been lurking for a while and wanted to finally post.

I'm a neuro atypical woman (OCD and other neuro stuff) with a neuro atypical family, married to an Aspies Man with Tourette Syndrome (happy in his job as a Senior Staff Engineer) two older daughters (one with TS as well) and our youngest (15) has Tourette and Aspies.

Struggling for the moment with S (youngest dd) having a lot of social anxiety and school anxiety. I hope we can learn as well as help. :)

Welcome! I hated being 15... It's a bad age for anyone, but especially bad when you are the "odd kid". Sorry your daughter is having a rough time. There are some very friendly and insightful young people here though, I wish I had had this resource in high school!

Thank you all so much. :') Thank you, Naturalist for your care about our youngest child. The teen years are difficult. I would share this with dd, but at the moment she's struggling with her Aspies dx. She knows she was dxed with it, (and in our family, it's seen as a normal thing) as well as her Tourette Syndrome. But, some years ago, when Asperger's was mentioned people started saying, "Oh, like Sheldon?" *sigh* I personally love the character, (but he only portrays one person and all people are unique) but our daughter does not care for the show, *Big Bang Theory) and got tired of explaining that NO, she is not "just like Sheldon." She's "just like S." Herself.

She's quiet and loves books, reading, maps, playing music, singing in the school choir and learning guitar enjoying Dr. Who, Supernatural, and other science fiction oriented things. It's been a rough school year. All AP and Honors classes and she feels like she's treading water. She's decided (with therapeutic help) to only take Honors and AP classes in the subjects she enjoys the most next year, as her best way to socialize is shared interests and she has had no time for other activities with the amount of home work seven AP and Honors classes has brought. Here's to a more calm year next year. I can't wait until summer.

Thank you all for your kind welcome. :)

hi! my name's maggie too and ive been on the email list for a while, but never really looked at it until i got an email about 'What Are The Most Aspie Friendly Places To Visit or Live' (you actually posted there too!) and i finally decided to make an account :D

Welcome Maggies, I'm sure you will find this to be a nice and helpful place.

Welcome :)

I see you're settling in nicely here. I hope you're able to find much information here, and are able to find the support you need, to help you through all this. Should you be interested, I've suggested a few resources below.
