Hi everyone :) I'm just starting my journey of discovering what (if any) disorders I have. I've always had undiagnosed OCD. I'm starting to strongly suspect that I do have ADHD, or ASD, but I'm unsure. I was going to do an online assessment but they wanted $150 from me! So here I am. Hello everyone :)

Welcome to the forum. :)
thanks :) I feel kind of embarrassed and foolish for being here. I have negative self talk, that goes something like this, "what are you even DOING here? don't be stupid. You're not autistic. You've have a full time job since you were in your teens. You have a functional life, you pay bills, drive a car, go grocery shopping. Stop questioning everything, you're not special".. but i do think something is wrong with me, and I think you guys will be able to help me <3

is that a sign of something? i'm a classic overthinker and i'm super critical of myself....

I've tried 2. One of them said I probably had it, the other one said that I probably didn't. If anyone could link me a few free ones, I would love to do them and share my results

I'm exactly the same, and I score more "neurotypical" than "autistic" on autism tests online, but some of my autistic traits (like special interests, and lack of desire for a romantic/intimate relationship) are too strong for me to think I'm not autistic. I'm also diagnosed with ADHD but I function perfectly fine with that too.
I have a full time job (I own the business too), live on my own, pay my bills, drive, do my own shopping, have a widespread social circle, etc... but I highly doubt that I'm neurotypical because my interests are way too intense beyond the level of being "normal." But it isn't a bad thing because it's helped me achieve huge success with my career.
It's NOT impossible for autistic people to live a functional and fulfilling life, you will find many, many success stories on here.

But, anyways, welcome! Hope you like it here :)

Some of us thrive on routine, any change is upsetting. Do you stim, bite your lips, flap your hands, wiggle your feet. Do you like repetitive types of things? Playing a song over and over? Do you eat the same food over and over?

Try reading some of the posts here. You can get a feeling about certain things we deal with.

You're welcome here.

There are quite a few on-line assessment tests that are free.
Just search free on-line autism tests. Then take you picks.
:)

Welcome from Michigan, as well. Byron Center,...south suburb of Grand Rapids.

FYI,...anything on-line is not going to be diagnostic. You need to go to an adult autism testing center,...preferably one associated with a reputable mental health center,...as they will do a more comprehensive cognitive performance assessment with multiple staff. If you are thinking of going along that route, I may be able to help you through the process.

Thank you guys for the warm welcome <3 Can someone explain what you mean when you say you obsess over "things" not "people"? I obsess over both. I do play the same song over and over again, but not for days at a time. Except Encanto.... I spent about 3 full work days playing the entire OST in my earbuds on an endless loop! I'll also get obsessed with an item that I NEED to get from Amazon because It will help me function or succeed. (For example, a high powered blender because it was the "only" thing stopping me from going on my perfect diet. Or this new book that's out by my favorite professor and I NEED this book for my collection." I collect books on my favorite topic, though I haven't gotten around to reading half of them yet.

I also obsess over people, here's a link to the other thread where I go more into detail: Obsessions?

Does this sound neurotypical or neurodiverse?

Thanks again, you guys are really being SUPER helpful and I appreciate it :D

obsessions are a big indicator; they turn into special interests.
I get obsessed with a certain topic and spend almost every waking moment either thinking about the topic, or listening to videos and podcasts about the topic. I learn a lot about the Topic in a very short amount of time and I collect a list in my head of the most important bullet points and highlights, and i usually retain those bullet points and highlights long after switching to other topics.

i forgot to add that this obsession over learning this new thing will last for days or weeks (and this also goes for video games) and what usually happens is i'll suddenly switch to a new topic and drop the last one.
