Hi from Oz from an Aspie partner

Hi all,

I live in Oz and have a partner with Aspergers. I can find it very challenging at times and am keen to find people who can relate to me and vice versa too! We currently don't have anyone in our lives who 'know' what it's like and I'd like to change that. I also plan on joining a local support group.

We found out about a year ago that he has aspergers, it was like a light came on for me as I suddenly understood! But now comes the next part of living with it and finding ways to grow together without making each other nuts. Part of that is reaching out. So, here I am!

Thanks Roz, I'm really glad I found this forum. There is a lot of negative stuff floating out there on cyberspace about being in a relationship with an aspie but this forum seems like a pretty positive place. I'm keen to learn lots and find better ways to relate to and understand my partner and also to find ways to cope better with the bad times. And hopefully I can add my 2c here and there on what it's like for us neurotypicals (although I don't think that descriptor fits me very well!)
