Hello, I have newly registered.
I am a 75 years old woman and believe I have Aspergers Syndrome or am at least borderline. I was abused as a child and spent years trying to overcome resultant emotional problems but despite breakthroughs and insights I still found it difficult to mix with others, or more accurately to my mind, others find it difficult to 'mix' with me! I did see my GP but she was reluctant to make a NHS referral, maybe because of my age? although she did give me a phone contact, which I never followed up.

I recently read an article about the Asperger personality and it fits me to a tee so decided I would like to have contact with others. I look forward to being a member of the forum

Hi rachelgee!

Welcome to AutismForums! I am tickled to welcome a member who is older than me, even if it is just by a little bit.

Hi rachelgee and welcome! I’m a survivor of child abuse too and learning about it and how it affected me led me to researching Asperger’s. Its a relief to have answers!

Hi, Rachelgee. Welcome to Autismforums! We are all one big family here. Wait, no! We are better than family. We are all really nice like all the happy people at the donut shop eating hot donuts and drinking strong black coffee. YES! We are a donut shop family here. What a great place this is. Welcome! We are glad you are here.
