AspieOtaku

Leader of the otaku legion!
Hi, I have Aspergers I was a former Wrong Planet member for 4 years but recently moderation has been so strict to the point I can no longer express myself or stick up for myself, I was being bullied and stuck up for myself and got banned for it so looking for a new place where I can feel safe and not be bullied. I am an Otaku I love anime alot and tend to get hyper but am kind hearted.

Welcome AspieOtaku.

I'm sorry to hear you had a hard time on Wrong Planet, it seems to be a common story.

What are your favorite anime? I'm going to guess that Deathnote is among them.

Yes Deathnote is indeed, I have many favorites, like Cowboy Beebop, One Piece, Naruto Shippuden, Durara, Attack on Titan, Hunter X Hunter 2011, Terraformars, Heavy Object, Inuyasha, God Eater, Dragon Ball Z and One Punch Man, ti Have many others to list but I might be making several pages so I guess my current favorite is Dragon Ball Super!

Hi I was briefly on wrong planet but felt rather unwelcomed there so I don't go there anymore,I like anime too and I hope you feel more welcome and able to express yourself here more without feeling restricted.

It's funny; I never fit in with other anime fans because I tend to focus on the old stuff. I've seen obscure things like Belladona of Sadness, but have never watched a full episode of Card Captor Sakura or Evangelion. I was starting to feel self concious about this while talking to a friend about anime. "You have to watch the basics!", she told me, but now I think I'm cool doing my own thing. I've never really fit in before, why should I start now. =P

Some of my favorite anime right now are: A Dog of Flanders, Akira, Ashita no Joe, Cowboy Bebop, FLCL, Future Boy Conan, Heidi: Girl of the Alps, Kobu Tori, Lipin III, Mobile Suit Gundam, Nausakaa, The Rose of Versailles, Space Adventure Cobra, Space Runway Idion, Spirited Away, and Wolf Children.

I like the old stuff, too. :) It all stems from watching Gatchaman (was called Battle of the Planets and also G-Force in the English dubbed versions) as a littlie.

Have you seen Panda GoPanda?

Ooh! I had almost forgotten about that one. It is absolutely adorable. I can't help but think of it as an alpha version of My Neighbor Totoro. Really, anything Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki have worked on is pretty good, and it goes back way before they established Studio Ghibli.

It's funny, when I worked my way up to the 70s I was really excited to see the evolution of the mecha genre (because giant robots are awesome) but I found the super robot genre to be a total wasteland of reppetative battles and little in the way of story telling. Then I came across Flanders no Inu, an unassuming show about a poor boy growing up Belgium, and I was utterly enthralled. It's really all because the animation was rendered so lovingly that even the most mundane scenes were a joy to watch. The 70s can keep Go Nagai, I'll take the proto-Ghibli goodness instead. =D

And I have seen a couple of episodes of Gatchaman. I thought it was pretty good, and much better than the sentai and combining robot shows it inspired. I really think that Tatsunoko productions had it going on during this erra. Though I haven't watched any of their series to completion I am always impressed by their graphic design. Everything they did looked so polished, and in the case of their sci-fi shounen titles, very sleek and futeristic. Other sci-fi anime of the time looked so clunky by comparrison. They also had some solid original concepts, so I can see why they are so beloved by the old school fans.

AspieOtaku sorry for hijacking your thread.
