... I'm eager to make connections with folks and share whatever I can share that will help.

My son is very bright, but also very stubborn and regimented, he doesn't play nicely with others (snatching, hitting, over-excited play that makes things wild). So I'm particularly looking to find other folks who have social challenges with kiddos who might otherwise pass for neurotypical some of the time.

I was recently laid off from my job as a software engineer so I spent some time making a simple visual schedule app for iPad to help my son get through our routines (wake up routines, meal time routines, etc.) ... it is helping a lot! I don't want to break the 'advertising' rules of this forum by linking out to it in my intro post, but if others are interested just let me know and I'll share a link to it.

Looking forward to meeting folks and learning more about everyones' journeys, some days are tough for sure!

Hello and welcome to the forum! I hope you enjoy yourself here and can find plenty of helpful experiences, insights and resources!

Hello and welcome. I hope that we can be supportive to you and your child.

Sometimes, attributes like being stubborn and unkind to others can actually be expressions of frustration. Even for those among us that are considered high functioning, the inner world can still be complicated and difficult for others to understand. It could be helpful to make sure that your son has accessible outlets to express himself and show his feelings and process his emotions. These things can be difficult on the inside and manifest in maladaptive ways externally.
