Dave here,
I heard a program about Autism on NPR a while back, and the presenter was saying she had autism. I didn't really know anything about autism, so I looked into it a little and must have recognized a few traits I have.
Later I asked a co-worker if she knew anything about autism. She said she has a daughter who has autism / asperger's, and kind of explained it to me.
So what's Asperger's? I hadn't heard of that, so I looked it up a few days later, and I'm thinking holy crap!, this sounds a lot like me! Somebody could have said something when I was a kid!
Anyway, after reading a lot on the internet, and taking some online tests, I've come to the conclusion that I don't know if I have Asperger's, but my traits seem to be about 55 percent leaning towards it, and about 45 percent towards NT.
Looking back on my life with the perspective that I might have Asperger's, I can totally see how it has affected every aspect from childhood and relationships to career choices, to my current lack of social skills.
I look forward to learning more.
