Hi,
I'm a 24-year-old Dutch girl and my name is Manouk.
I was diagnosed with PDD-nos when I was around 17.
Not a single person besides my parents know, and lately I'm having a diffucult time with the fact that I've always refused to talk to my psychologist or in fact anyone about the things I struggle with.
I think now that I've grown up I'm realizing what it can do to keep something inside for such a long time...
So I thought this forum might be able to help me understand and accept things better.

Hello Chang123, you've come to the best place then.

It's very informal here, you can dip in & dip out, without having to go through the hassle of meeting
a professional for information. I've found a lot of positives here, be it understanding you are not alone,
to seeing that however you may feel there's always a way to see it differently for the positive.

I've avoided going through the process of a professional assessment myself, as I felt that at least here (UK)
the mountain one has to climb is a daunting one & at one point when I approached a mental health team they
wanted me to go join day groups with people that were truly challenged. Which would have made me feel like
Jack Nicholson in the film 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest'. Which wasn't for me as I just needed answers not a day filler watching people do arts & crafts.

Hope you find what you're looking for.

hi chang123, welcome to AC,just lurk around for a while to get used to it and then start posting if it would make you feel more confident.

:) Hi Chang123 and welcome.
I've found this to be a great place where I feel I can just be myself and not feel ashamed to talk about how it is, what I am about and have gone through and compare notes, ( so to speak) with others.
I hope you can feel very at ease here.

Hello! Yes, acceptance can be hard, I've struggled with it myself, I've felt that my struggles weren't valid and that I was lazy.

Welcome and I hope we can easy you into talking to others about things. It's not as scary as you might think and people are generally understanding if you explain.
