Hi! :]

isabelkat3

Isabel (they/them) :]
Hi! I'm Isabel, I'm 17 and I was diagnosed as autistic quite recently! I'm currently an A Level student in the UK studying English Literature, Music and Drama, and I want to study English at university.
I'm nonbinary and use they/she pronouns, though prefer that only people close to me use the 'she' part so on public forums I use they/them.
I've done a bit of research after getting my diagnosis, but preferred to keep to myself for a bit whilst I got it finalised and learnt more about it.
My main interests include My Chemical Romance, the ocean, and the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy; there are others that I'm going to list on my profile when I have the time, but those are pretty much the big three at the moment. I enjoy writing, reading, swimming, and playing musical instruments, I'm working towards grade eight on the violin at the moment!
Anyway, yeah, that's it. I don't know how to end this properly so- :]

How much Shakespeare have you had to do so far for A Level English Lit? I remember doing a lot back when I did A-level English. I did the 2 years in one - which was a bit heavy going. Shakespeare litters the English curriculum from school into university.

I always wished I studied English Language, as I prefer writing to reading and analysing what other's have created.

Welcome to the forums. There's a lot of Autism books out there which can really help gain new perspectives on your diagnosis.

This forum is also a friendly place with like minded people who are welcoming and happy to share their insights or give advice.

Welcome aboard :sailboat:

So far it's been a solid third of it - we're doing Hamlet, which I'm really excited about, because it's my favourite Shakespeare play! I enjoyed English Language at GCSE, but the syllabus goes into so much detail at A Level that I think I would have got bored.
Thanks so much for the welcome!!!

Hi and welcome, I am in the UK too, and am gay and nonbinary. It's great you have been able to recognise that identity early, I didn't get to that for many years, although I think it's more understood and discussed now, which helps people identify themselves.

I actually could put Nonbinary on the Census this year! Although they spoilt it a bit by asking everyone to also put what gender they were born, male or female? But, but, I was born non binary! Whether recognised or not...

Hope you enjoy it here, and find useful discussions and resources.

Hi and welcome @isabelkat3

Do hang out a bit, and read some of the older posts. Lots of good info there, or jsut hang around a while and see what gets posted.

Welcome.

Your avatar is awesome. It's great you play violin, I played for a while but I'm quite talentless. What pieces are you practicing?

Hi!!! Same, I put nonbinary on the census and it felt SO freeing honestly. Plus, a quick and effective way to come out to my family!
