Homemade odor removers

Hello, a guy is coming over to make few renovations (he came last week but couldn’t make all of them that week), I want my place to be as clean as possible and have been cleaning it in preparation for him. But this morning, I discovered that there is one, maybe more odors lingering around and really want to remove it before he comes, what some homemade odor removers I can make and/or use?

Those boxes of baking soda are good. Also, if you go to a fish aquarium store, you can find packages of activated carbon that are used in the filters. We have forced air heating/cooling,...drop a package in each of your registers to freshen up the air. Febreze spray is good,...get the fragrance free.

Fresh air? (open a window)

Vinegar....

Baking soda absorbs odors, but not in a brief span of time like an hour or two.

Bleach. It's not homemade and some people think it's terrible.
It's better than stinky-ness.

I don't know what the source of odor is at your place.
If it's from something like old over ripe cauliflower, dispose of it and
wash the container.

Ammonia....wiping surfaces with ammonia, the advantage is it dries quickly.

Brew some coffee or bake some bread, if you want a pleasant ambient aroma.

How exactly do I apply it to the room that have the odor?
1. If you have forced air, you can put the box(es) by the registers,...alternatively, if you have a small room fan to move the air around is helpful.
2. If you have carpeting, you can sprinkle it on the carpeting, itself,...let it sit for about 30 minutes, then vacuum it up.

Thanks! I'll get to work on that!

This one lady had a horrible smell in her front room. It was the cat, it kept peeing on the little area rug. We figured it out when we moved the rug away.

Was it a male cat? Male cats are very proactive of their territories and are more likely than females to do things like that. Cats in general will often pee in the same spot they've peed in the past.
