As I am preparing chili dogs for dinner, I decided to do a hot dog survey here.

As long as they're not of the "stuck in a vehicle on a hot summer day" variety, hot dogs are awesome for versatility.

Couple other random comments:

Kosher sausages while commonly available in the US are not seen much in Canada. I've never seen Hebrew National north of the border, for example. One can get halal sausages without too much difficulty, however.

Seaweed as a topping provides a neat umami kick. Several stands in Vancouver offer it.

Only Koegel brand. If my wife could squeeze blood out of a penny, she would. When we first started dating g she was trying to pinch pennies and made the mistake of bringing hotdogs that weren't Koegel in to our home. I took them out of the refrigerator and threw them out in the woods lol

I actually love hotdogs lol... and I voted for every topping! I also like corndogs, and "pigs in a blanket." If I hadn't had to cancel my Halloween party this year I would've made some of those.
Now I wish I had the ingredients to make chili cheese dogs...

When I was small, my parents used to pack hotdogs in tall thermoses with boiling water in them. We would bring them to the ski slopes and eat them at the lodge after a few hours of skiing. I would inevitably crawl underneath the indoor picnic tables and take a nap right in my ski suit. Good memories of hotdogs, although I don’t enjoy them anymore.

You can do this with ramen noodles too. Good on a ski day.

I always made my daughter corn dogs from scratch and baked, not fried, and it usually was a healthy dog. And they were miniature so her little hands could grab them. We all enjoyed them. I went to Chicago because l had to try a Chicago hot dog along with all the beautiful attractions there.

The hot dog itself MUST be either Casper's or a Millers natural casing. With Guilden's Spicy Brown mustard, diced onions and a bit of relish. With a longer Rainbow bun to accommodate the longer hot dog.

Ok, we're done here. ;)

I put Guilden's spicy brown mustard on hotdogs, bologna, chicken, and turkey! And sandwiches.
I'm glad I'm not the only one lol

Prefer them spicy. I usually cut them in half because they always squirm about in the bun otherwise. Recently having them in egg-hotdog-cheese-pesto burritos.

Oh, and the pooches rate them a 10!

Chicago style for me.
I like most any type though. Chili, cheese is second and Corn dogs with mustard.

I enjoy all the varieties that the Midwest has to offer, from traditional hotdogs with a schmear of Gulden's, to the sausages on a bun of Wisconsin. My two favorites are:

The Detroit Coney dog which started nearly a century ago. The best Chili dog that there is with a great natural casing dog.

The Chicago hat dog. Dragged through the garden with hot peppers.

But Ketchup on a hot dog? NO, NEVER! that is disrespecting that delicious creation.

Sometimes I like to put sauerkraut or coleslaw on mine. I like 'em loaded with toppings and juicy.

Since it's just husband and me most of the time, I sometimes cut up a couple of all-beef hotdogs into coins, put them in a small (one quart) slow cooker, add barbecue sauce and slices of pickled jalapenos, onions and bell peppers.

I turn on the slow cooker about mid-morning and by noon, it's piping hot and ready for a bun.

Sliced, lightly browned and stirred into classic blue box Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. This was haute cuisine growing up.

Otherwise, charcoal grilled with just ketchup on a lightly toasted bun.

I like hot dogs alright (though prefer most other fast food), but I don't have any additional toppings. Hot dog and a bun, that's it. I can't stand the smell of most hot dog condiments. If someone is eating a hot dog with ketchup in a car with me, I need to open a window as I otherwise feel like throwing up.

I LOVE hot dogs! In fact I can literally eat one in two bites. You’d think that I would be more popular within the gay community but I’m not.

Other... As in a proper Bratwurst, not a hot dog... There is a difference! ;)

On my Bratwurst? I'm rather simple, sauerkraut and mustard... :p
